Job Title: Furnace Operator
Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days a week.
Available shifts: Day (8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.), Swing (4:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m.), and Grave (12:00 a.m.–8:00 a.m.). Swing shift receives $0.50 above base pay; Grave receives $1.00 above base pay.

Position Summary:
Responsible for operating and maintaining furnaces in the oxide production plant and reduction plant. Duties include loading and discharging furnaces, bagging out oxide from bag houses, breaking metal, blending product, collecting samples, packaging finished product, operating a forklift, and preparing materials for shipment. The role supports continuous production in a dusty industrial environment. No prior experience is required; full training will be provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Always work safely and maintain furnaces, bag houses, and related equipment in safe operating condition.
- Inspect furnaces, bag houses, work areas, and tools before starting each shift and complete required paperwork.
- Maintain and operate furnaces for oxide production and metal reduction, including loading raw materials, monitoring operations, and discharging finished product.
- Bag out oxide material from bag houses.
- Break metal using a sledgehammer as needed.
- Blend product to required specifications.
- Collect and properly handle product samples.
- Lift, sew, and stack 50 lb. to 55.1 lb. bags onto pallets.
- Operate a forklift to move materials, load/unload, and prepare product for shipment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area around furnaces, bag houses, and packaging stations; clean up material spillage every shift.
- Assist with basic equipment maintenance or repairs as directed.
- Complete all daily shift documents and paperwork accurately.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator, at all times when mandated.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support plant operations.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
- Able to lift 50 lbs to 55.1 lbs regularly.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Able to perform simple math and accurately complete paperwork.
- Self-sufficient, self-starting, and prompt.
- Comfortable working in a dusty and dirty industrial environment.
- Able to work assigned shifts (Day, Swing, or Grave).
Qualifications:
- No experience necessary; the company provides full training.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic and can-do attitude.
- Must be organized, able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and adapt to changing production needs.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, foundry, or industrial setting is a plus but not required.

This is an industrial plant environment that is frequently dusty and dirty. The employee is regularly exposed to furnace heat, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions when moving between areas. The employee may encounter moving mechanical parts, vibration, and moderate to high noise levels. Work occurs around active furnaces and bag houses; proper PPE, including a respirator, is required.
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
