Position Overview:
The Asbestos Abatement Technician is a member of the field production team and reports to the Production Manager. This role performs field service work, usually in small teams, at residential and commercial jobsites. This is a full-time role and is a career opportunity that is coupled with professional certification training. We are known for the quality of our work because we hire quality staff members.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Setup, operate, and maintain equipment as necessary to ensure quality work on each job.
- Perform service work using best and safe practices for asbestos, lead, and mold.
- Operate power tools for cutting and sanding while wearing full PPE including respirators, gloves, boots, and safety goggles.
- Ensure all equipment, supplies, vehicle, and products entrusted to your care are carefully cleaned and maintained on a regular basis to comply with company safety policies.
- Assist with preventative maintenance on company vehicles.
- Attend and participate in all classes necessary to stay in compliance as set by the company as well as State & Federal regulations.
- Complete field production documents such as signed authorizations, job site worksheets, timesheets, and other documents necessary for proper billing.
- Adhere to all safety programs/compliance requirements deemed necessary by Abatex.
- Represent company so that Abatex image is enhanced in the eyes of the customer.
- Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude towards fellow employees and customers.
- Maintain clean uniforms, vehicles, equipment and an overall clean appearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Preferred prior experience as a certified abatement technician (however; we are willing to train and certify the right candidate).
- Team player with a “Can do” attitude; strong work ethic
- Reliable; looking for long-term employment
- Strong communication and people skills for interfacing with clients, co-workers, and other stakeholders.
- Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Detailed, flexible, and organized
- Able to recognize and respect sensitive/confidential information
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting of 5-40 lbs and occasional lifting over 40 lbs, unassisted.
- Access and mobility in tight spaces
- Working at heights – over 5 feet, periodically
- Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, and driving.*
