JOB TITLE: Research and Development Technician DEPARTMENT: Engineering
JOB SUMMARY: The Research and Development Technician is responsible for providing support to an engineer in the execution of experiments, test date collection/processing, equipment maintenance, and technical problem solving.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with requesting engineers and test engineers to insure correct fixturing, set-up, operation, and acquisition of data for test requests.

Record and collect test data.

Perform routine as well as preventative maintenance on test equipment as necessary.

Adhere to all operating procedures and work instruction related to this position.

Assist with calibration of equipment and perform equipment verification as necessary.

Performing tests and troubleshooting assistance as needed per engineer’s request.

Test data entry using but not limited to Excel/Word.

Creating concise test reports.

Providing suggestions to improve test design, equipment maintenance, safety, and product quality.

Maintaining flexibility to meet variable work hours for training process evaluation and troubleshooting.

Be familiar with and compliant with the systems, procedures and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to this position and Crown quality objectives.
ACCOUNTABILITY: This position reports directly to the Research and Development Engineer.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Two-year degree in mechanical or electrical engineering technology or equivalent work experience

2 year of maintenance and calibration experience is preferred

Experience with LOTO, high voltage and electrical principals

Microsoft Office knowledge
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk for 8-10 hours at a time. Bending, twisting, and turning. Full use of both hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or tooling; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk to hear. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 75 pounds frequently and in excess of 140 pounds infrequently. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must follow OSHA guidelines on respirator fit testing and proper wear. Will wear goggles or face shield at all times while in department.
