Behavior Consultants are responsible for effecting positive behavioral change in people supported; providing supportive interventions to staff, families and/or natural supports; and complying with Federal, State, and Diversified Enterprises policies, regulations and/or procedures. Behavior Consultants assist in assuring consistency in implementation of behavioral support plans (BSP) as well as established Person-Centered Plans (PCP), Individual Service Plans (ISP), and following all human rights, safety and health-related policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts functional assessments and other diagnostic assessments of behavior.
- Develops, monitors, and modifies behavioral supports plans and assesses adherence to behavioral supports plans.
- Provides positive behavioral supports consultation through the delivery of on-site training to direct care staff and informal care providers in implementation of the behavior plan.
- Reviews data collected, conducts data analysis, and conducts routine reviews of program efficacy and adjustments to the plan based on review findings.
- Assists in debriefing teams in situations in which crisis intervention and / or crisis management techniques are utilized.
- Report evidence of abuse, neglect and other health and safety issues immediately. Complete incident reports and give them to supervisor timely for review.
- On Call responsibilities as assigned up to 24 hours per day.
- Participate in individual service plan meetings (multi-disciplinary teams) to develop support plans for residents.
- Collaborates with and provides pertinent data/information to outside agencies including but not limited to Regional Behavioral Professionals, residential supervisors, hospital administrators, law enforcement agencies, emergency management systems, and school system representatives about the progress or needs of individuals served.
- Interact with the individuals supported in a manner, including language and tone of voice, which is consistent with respect for the person supported.
- Responsible for completion of documentation pertaining to overall behavioral support of the individuals and for related duties
- Utilize appropriate verbal de-escalation skills and behavior management techniques including use of passive physical restraint when de-escalation and/or physical intervention is necessary for crisis intervention and / or crisis management.
- Maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries and awareness regarding people supported, families, co-workers, and community resources, etc...
- If applicable, provide transportation for individuals following transportation policies and procedures.
- Complies with all applicable regulatory agency regulations and procedures as well as the policies and procedures of Diversified Enterprises, Inc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 21 years or older
- Maintains valid driver’s license and insurable under their auto insurance.
- Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks.
- Clear tuberculosis screening
Education and Experience:
- Must have a Master's Degree
- Must be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Skills Knowledge & Abilities:
- Working knowledge of developmental disabilities current Board-Certified Behavior Analyst license.
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of computers to allow employees to access computer systems and applications to complete documentation, read and respond to email, and complete required on-line training.
- Ability to work as a team member, maintaining effective inter and intra-agency working relationships
- Ability to achieve and maintain certifications necessary for the job (including, but not limited to, First Aid, CPR, MANDT, Medication Administration).
- Ability to collect, summarize, and graph behavioral data.
- Knowledge of functional behavioral assessment and behavior modification as well as the practical application of developmental and social behavior assessments, support plan development, and program implementation.
