Full Job Description

About the Outside Sales Rep Position

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for managing all sales activities within their defined territory. Decision-making, accountability, strong analytical thinking, and follow-through are critical in this role. This individual must be trustworthy, driven, a self-starter, and have experience working with decorative surfaces, high-grade hardwood lumber, sheet goods, and architectural-grade building products.

Responsibilities

1. Sales

Sells established accounts and identifies/opens/sells new customers
Attends regular sales meetings
Provides detailed monthly, quarterly, and yearly territory sales budgets
Responsible for quoting, sales, margin, and accounts receivable within territory
Identifies target accounts and programs and develops strategy to achieve growth
Constantly seeks to learn new skills and deepen product knowledge and expertise - i.e growth mindset

2. Operations and Organizational

Develops strong relationships with management, co-workers, and key suppliers
Provides leadership, direction and guidance to inside support staff
Functions as a team player and strives to improve operational efficiency
Responsible for managing program specific inventory within customer base
Supports new company initiatives, operational and sales

3. Customers

Nurtures new customers, maintains/grows sales with existing customers
Builds rapport and credibility
Develops collaborative and consultative relationships
Establishes and maintains programs
Responsible for regular visits to entire customer base

Qualifications

Outside sales experience is a plus
5+ years inside sales and operations experience is a plus
Knowledge of lumber and plywood and experience within the building products industry is a must
Energetic and positive with excellent work ethic
Goal and action-oriented
Self-starter, forward thinking and strong at planning
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be computer savvy (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills

Competitive compensation – Base Salary of $60,000 - 70,000/year based on experience + uncapped commission to allow $90,000-$100,000 in first year
