Purity Laboratories is an environmental and clinical laboratory with more than 50 years experience. We are ISO and CLIA certified. We specialize in testing food, dietary supplements and hemp. We are looking for an experienced laboratory technician for performing testing on LC-MS and HPLC laboratory equipment.

Job Title: Chemistry Technician

Department Name: Purity Laboratories

Reports To (title): Chemistry Lead

Job Status (full/part): Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

SUMMARY: We are seeking a skilled and detailed HPLC/LC-MS operator to join our Chemistry department. The individual must have at least 3 years’ experience at a commercial lab operating HPLC and LC-MS laboratory equipment. Experience in working in an ISO and/or CLIA laboratory is also helpful.

This role is crucial in supporting research and development activities by performing high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analyses. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both techniques, possess a strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles, and be capable of working efficiently and independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for activities of the HPLC and LC-MS.

· Keeps and maintains a clean and safe work area.

· May participate in training new department personnel in standard operating procedures.

· Participates in the development and coordination of lab systems and procedures to ensure efficient and effective lab operations while maintaining on time delivery of requested orders.

· Will develop tests using the appropriate development, validation, methods, and documentation of new or improved techniques and methods of analysis.

· May represent the Chemistry department with accreditation and regulatory inspectors.

· May assist the Chemistry Lead to develop and maintain necessary quality control and maintenance logbooks/ spreadsheets.

· May assist the Chemistry Lead to ensure that all Quality Management System policies and procedures are being followed.

· Performs high quality work by striving for zero defects / error-free work.

· Prepare samples for testing and tests samples following laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) approved Methods.

· Monitor consumable supplies and keep inventory of supplies at recommended levels.

· Maintains records of analytical results both in paper and electronic forms and prepare results for review.

· Operates and performs routine maintenance on HPLC-DAD/UV and LC-MS/MS as necessary.

SECONDARY OR OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Entering Data into LIMS system.
Substitute, if needed, for jobs vacated due to temporary circumstances such as illness.
Completes cross-training of major lab equipment in the Chemistry department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. Degree in science related field.
3-5 years laboratory experience.
1-2 years supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with HPLC, Agilent software and/or successful completion of Purity Labs training and qualification program.
Strong computer skills, especially with spreadsheets.
Organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
Sustained levels of high performance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical ability to lift 35lbs. to waist high, 25lbs. above shoulders.
Ability to readily move about the laboratory and support areas without limitations to the effective performance of your duties.

· Individual is exposed to the following work conditions while performing the essential functions of this job:

· Hazardous chemicals

· Strong odors from samples

· Required to wear a lab coat, nitrile or latex gloves, and face masks depending on the P.P.E requirements of specific job functions

OCCASIONALLY

· Dust or airborne particles

ATTENDANCE

Attendance meets company standards. Willing to be flexible and work outside of normal work hours.
