Job Summary - General Manager

The General Manager is the on-site executive leader and ultimate steward of the experience. This role owns the space; the people, the standards, the systems, and the guest journey. The General Manager is responsible for protecting and elevating the company's operational and aesthetic excellence every single day. Applicants must have General Management experience.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the General Manager leads all departments with clarity, kindness, and authority, taking full ownership of the venue’s performance, culture, and physical environment. Calm, decisive, and detail-oriented, they ensure Front and Back of House are aesthetically aligned, operationally efficient, and easy to maintain. They set the tone, protect the standard, and drive results while fostering a collaborative, accountable team culture. Weekend availability is required, and the ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume, high-energy creative environment.

Job Responsibilities

Ownership & Leadership

Serve as the primary on-site leader with full operational ownership of the venue.
Set and protect the company standards across all departments: gallery, facilities, bar, food and retail.
Lead departmental managers and hourly team members with clear expectations, accountability and consistent follow-through.
Act as the final decision-maker on daily operational matters while escalating strategic issues appropriately.
Maintain a calm, professional presence and model the level of excellence expected from the entire team.

Staff Management & Culture

Oversee all hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, payroll, performance management and off boarding processes in alignment with company SOPs.
Ensure consistent execution of disciplinary procedures and performance reviews.
Partner with HR to ensure compliance with all state and federal employment regulations.
Protect and actively cultivate the company's culture through intentional training, communication and team development.
Empower leaders while holding all staff accountable to performance and behavioral standards.

Operational Excellence

Oversee daily operations across all departments to ensure a seamless, five-star guest experience.
Audit, refine, and implement SOPs to increase efficiency and maintain consistency.
Identify operational gaps and proactively create solutions.
Ensure compliance with health, safety and local regulations.

Space & Aesthetic Management

Take active ownership of the physical space; front and back of house.
Identify and implement improvements in organization, storage systems, cleanliness and workflow efficiency.
Proactively point out maintenance needs, aesthetic inconsistencies and operational inefficiencies.
Ensure all spaces are visually aligned with Hopscotch’s brand standards and are easy for staff to maintain.

Financial & Administration Oversight

Oversee weekly inventory submissions and ordering for office, bar and kitchen supplies.
Monitor and manage departmental budgets, optimizing labor and cost controls.
Ensure adherence to accounting procedures for payments and reconciliations.
Oversee payroll accuracy and compliance.
