General Summary

The Area Sales Associate is responsible for generating sales by nurturing existing customer relationships and gaining new customers through prospecting, lead generation, and referrals. Works as part of a collaborative team to provide world-class customer service, offer industry-leading solutions, and proactively generate profitable sales growth. The Area Sales Associate focuses on fulfilling fuel and lubricant needs primarily of our commercial customers supporting on-road and off-road commercial vehicles, commercial fleets as well as off-highway, general construction, land clearing, and landscaping segments.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Generate leads by cold calling, gaining referrals, and making sales calls within assigned territory
Foster and maintain relationships with the assigned customer base by adding value and building trust
Act as a liaison between assigned customers and other Couch Oil Company customer support functions
Participate in research to help resolve product, service, and delivery issues
Operate as a partner to our customers by understanding their needs and proposing customer solutions
Follow up referrals and leads in a timely manner. Ensure all follow-up actions are communicated with key organizational stakeholders
Develop joint plans with strategic customers as their trusted advisor
Review and track sales volume and report field activity to President and COO on a weekly basis
Create territory and call plans to maximize field effectiveness and ensure optimal productivity is achieved
Approximately 90% of the Area Sales Associates’ time will be spent traveling throughout assigned territory to maintain and grow existing customers while prospecting new opportunities
Prepare prices quotes, and credit applications for customers. Effectively present information to close new opportunities
Maintains accurate and quality sales and prepares reports as required
Represent Couch Oil Company in the most ethical and professional manner

Required Skills:

New business development including consistent cold-calling prospects on a daily basis
Proven track record of fostering sound customer relationships, retaining and penetrating existing customers, and capturing new customers
Display proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. and ability to acclimate to Couch Oil Company’s systems
Ability to organize and manage time appropriately while working in a fast-paced environment
Proactive and responsive to internal and external customers
Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to work independently while still working in a team environment

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent is required
Previous industry field experience required
Bachelors or Associates degree preferred or equivalent work experience
First year college graduates are welcome, Internship experience is a plus
Minimum of 3+ years outside direct sales/service experience preferred
Verifiable work history and previous success building and maintaining professional relationships
