Full Job Description

Stationary Engineer / Operating Engineer

About the Position: This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all building heating, cooling, mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.

Shift: Will discuss, the facility is open 24 Hours

Summary of Duties:

Operate, maintain, and inspect heating, ventilation, air conditioning, geothermal, lighting, power, pneumatic, electrical, and BAS systems.
Perform repair and maintenance to building structures or recommend need for contractual services.
Carry out department preventive maintenance program involving all building operating and electric systems. Provide recommendations for additional PM procedures as needed. These systems provide building environmental controls and electric light and power. The systems control points are located in ten remote mechanical/electrical spaces and are interconnected by systems wiring and piping.
Keep clear, concise and complete records and logs on equipment, parts, chemicals, etc. and submit weekly reports.
Maintain inventory of department equipment and consumables, prepare reports as required.
Consult with and advise Coordinator regarding observations relative to building operating and electric systems and action to be taken. Orders and/or obtains parts according to established procedures.
May be responsible for periodic routine visits to various campus sites to carry out preventive maintenance program or other building related repairs and projects.
Assist in the training of new maintenance employees.
Participate fully in a self directed work team consisting of Building Operating Engineers and Maintenance Repair/Workers, for the purpose of developing on going work assignments and projects.
Perform emergency repair/maintenance work as required.
Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a desire to work in a hands-on environment.
Previous experience working in similar environments with a strong focus on providing an exceptional work result.
High school graduation or equivalent.
Three years of full-time paid employment in the maintenance of a variety of building mechanical equipment and/or as a mechanic of refrigeration, ventilation, and/or food-service equipment
Valid Driver's license.
Ability to pass drug test/screening.
Ability to pass background check.
Ability to get badged by relevant oversight agencies for site.

Typical Experience: The preferred candidate will have 5 plus years HVAC experience including heat pumps, chillers, steam boiler, steam generator, and electrical and plumbing experience.

Working Conditions: General industry and plant environment, exposure to loud noise, exposure to extreme temperatures, exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards, hazardous materials, chemicals, fumes, or dust, exposure to oil or wet environment and uneven surfaces. Use of equipment such as standard office equipment, communication devices, tools to repair and maintain heating and colling equipment and repair physical facility buildings. Testing and monitoring equipment. PPE.

Physical Requirements: This position can be physically demanding. This includes requirement to stand and walk for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) on a regular basis, move around industrial environments, carrying materials, computers, cell phone, and other tools. Ability to quickly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with one's body, arms, and/or legs. Ability to move one's hands and arms to grasp or manipulate objects. Ability to climb staircases, ladders, and/or step stools. Ability to operate applicable hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
