Full Job Description

A well‑established law firm is seeking a skilled Legal Secretary to support attorneys in a busy Insurance Defense practice. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing a high‑volume litigation workload.

Key Responsibilities

Provide administrative and litigation support to insurance defense attorneys
Draft, revise, and format pleadings, motions, discovery responses, subpoenas, and correspondence
Manage attorney calendars, schedule hearings, depositions, and client meetings
Organize case files, maintain document management systems, and track deadlines
Obtain, organize, and assist with summarizing medical records, billing records, and claim files
Prepare and proofread medical summaries, deposition summaries, and case materials
Coordinate discovery, including document production and disclosures
Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders
Communicate professionally with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel
Handle e‑filing in state and federal courts

Qualifications

3+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably in insurance defense or civil litigation
Strong understanding of litigation procedures, court rules, and e‑filing requirements
Experience working with medical records and supporting preparation of medical summaries
Excellent proofreading, formatting, and document‑production skills
Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
Proficiency with legal practice management and document management software
Ability to multitask and support multiple attorneys in a fast‑paced environment
