About Us

Co-op Energy is a division of Hammill Manufacturing Co, a family-owned business that has operated for over 70 years. Hammill Manufacturing Co consists of three divisions: Co-op Tool Production Workholding - Toledo, Co-op Energy - Temperance, and Hammill Medical - Maumee. Co-op energy is the newest addition to the company and is growing every day.

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated VTL Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs) to produce precision components with exceptional accuracy and efficiency. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will be essential in delivering high-quality parts that meet strict specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining equipment.

Salary commensurate with experience

5 years machining experience preferred

12- hour shift Mon-Thu and 1/2-day Fri

Duties

Set up and operate Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs) to produce complex metal components according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
Program CNC VTL machines
Interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to maintain tight tolerances and quality standards.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machinery
Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and dial indicators to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications.

Qualifications

Proven experience operating CNC lathes, specifically VTL machines.
Strong background in CNC programming
Solid understanding of GD&T principles, blueprint reading, mechanical concepts, and manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding when applicable.
Experience with Mastercam
Ability to use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, CMMs effectively.
Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feeds, speeds, and machine settings.
Mechanical aptitude with a strong understanding of machining principles and safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials safely, operate forklifts (certification preferred), and use hand tools comfortably.
