Full Job Description

The Star Diner is seeking a qualified individual for kitchen manager . Our employees are family to us and enjoy very competitive pay/salary and benefits. We have very supportive work environment with little employee turnover. The average employee being with us for more than 10+ years. In this position, the individual should have:

Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and use of all related equipment
Responsible self-starter who is able to follow instructions delivered in verbal or written form
Knowledge of appropriate food service sanitation standards
Clean and professional personal appearance
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with other members of the staff and vendors
Ability to work well under pressure and deal with the multitasking of a busy commercial kitchen while assuring that all details receive appropriate attention
Must be able to handle immediate changes in plans due to customer demands and needs, availability of products and other unforeseen problems
Dedication to providing outstanding service
Must be willing and able to work as needed – hours will include weekends
Have a firm knowledge of all food safety standards such as date marking, proper product rotation, and proper temperature and time holding.
Understand food control standards and reduction of product waste

Job Duties include:

Prepare food with consistent high quality by following recipes and special instructions while upholding portion and production standards.
Schedule and Initiate preparation of food items based on anticipated needs and schedule.
Properly store all food products during and after use.
Must be able to hire/discipline/ & train staff
Must be able to direct staff and instruct
Operate food preparation equipment such as fryers, broilers, stoves, steamers, food processors, mixers, slicers, ovens, steam tables and ect.
Clean and maintain all equipment and general working environment.
Report to work as scheduled, learn processes and procedures, and supporting others as they learn.
Always maintain professional is consistent with company expectations.
Examine the freshness of ingredients and participate in food tastings.
Ensure there is no shortages or discrepancies in products or ingredients and inform the Executive Chef accordingly.
Ensure quality standards and deadlines are met.
Ensure food meets the meal specifications and the utmost quality standards at all times.
Ensure availability of kitchen personnel based on business needs.
Ensure that appropriate Maintenance and Safety Standards are followed and that kitchen team strictly adheres to state and federal regulations when it comes to food storage, handling and preparation and other safety and sanitation codes involving culinary utensils, kitchen equipment and overall cleanliness.
Maintain Culinary Excellence Standards. Train, motivate and manage kitchen personnel and supervise culinary activities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
