Job Summary
The Project Estimator/Quoter is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and quotations for electrical construction, maintenance, and service projects within the oil and gas industry. This position analyzes project specifications, drawings, and customer requirements to develop detailed labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs while ensuring compliance with company standards and client expectations. The estimator works closely with project managers, operations, procurement, and customers to support successful project execution from bid through project handoff.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer requests for quotes (RFQs), bid packages, electrical drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs for electrical materials, equipment, instrumentation, and associated labor.
- Develop accurate cost estimates for industrial electrical construction, maintenance, turnarounds, facility upgrades, and oilfield service projects.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare detailed proposals, quotations, and bid packages that meet customer requirements and company profitability goals.
- Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and value engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, engineering, and procurement to validate labor productivity, scheduling, and constructability.
- Maintain current pricing databases for labor rates, materials, equipment rentals, and subcontractor costs.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and customer meetings as required.
- Respond to customer questions regarding pricing, scope clarification, and technical requirements.
- Support contract negotiations by providing pricing justifications and estimate revisions.
- Prepare project handoff documentation for awarded work.
- Track estimate accuracy by comparing estimated costs with actual project costs and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Maintain organized estimating files and historical cost records.
- Ensure all estimates comply with applicable electrical codes, client specifications, safety requirements, and company procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of estimating or project management experience in industrial electrical construction, oilfield electrical services, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, instrumentation, controls, and hazardous area installations.
- Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams, construction drawings, specifications, and P&IDs.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates while meeting tight deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating projects for upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas facilities.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, API, OSHA, and applicable industrial safety standards.
- Familiarity with purchasing and supply chain processes.
- Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician license is a plus.

Work Environment
This position primarily works in an office environment with periodic travel to customer facilities, fabrication shops, and oilfield locations. The role requires close collaboration with operations, field personnel, vendors, and customers while supporting multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
