About Us
Integrated Aesthetics is a physician-led plastic surgery, dermatology, and medical aesthetics practice serving Spring, The Woodlands, and the greater North Houston area. Our surgical cases are performed in our own accredited in-office operating suite, which means a small, consistent team, a predictable schedule, and the kind of continuity you rarely get in a hospital OR — you will know your patients from pre-op through their post-op follow-up.
We are hiring an experienced perioperative Registered Nurse to circulate our surgical cases, recover our patients in PACU, and serve as the coordinator who keeps our accreditation, credentialing, and clinical programs running.
Position Summary
The Surgical Services RN Coordinator is responsible for the complete perioperative nursing care of our elective plastic surgery patients — pre-operative assessment and preparation, circulating in the operating room, and post-anesthesia recovery through discharge — and for the administrative backbone that keeps the surgical program running: facility accreditation readiness, credentialing of our physicians and clinical staff, and clinical support of our medical weight loss program.
This is a hands-on, autonomous, dual clinical and administrative role on a small surgical team. Surgery days are spent at the bedside; the days between are protected for coordination work. It suits an experienced perioperative nurse who is confident in both the circulator and PACU roles and who takes satisfaction in running a tight, survey-ready operation.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Operative
- Complete pre-operative assessment, chart review, and verification of labs, medical clearances, history, and consents
- Confirm NPO status, allergies, current medications, and compliance with pre-op instructions
- Start IVs, administer pre-operative medications per physician order, and place SCDs and warming devices
- Review the operative plan and patient positioning with the surgeon and anesthesia provider
- Provide pre-operative education and answer patient and family questions
Intra-Operative (Circulator)
- Serve as the circulating nurse for aesthetic and reconstructive surgical cases, including breast augmentation, breast lift and reduction, abdominoplasty, liposuction and body contouring, facelift and facial rejuvenation, and gynecomastia and skin excision procedures
- Prepare the OR suite, open sterile supplies, verify implant and specimen documentation, and ensure all instrumentation and equipment is available and functioning
- Lead and document the surgical safety checklist and time-out; verify correct patient, procedure, site, and side
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and monitor the sterile field; intervene on any break in sterility
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, draping, normothermia, and pressure-injury prevention
- Manage sharps, sponge, and instrument counts; specimen handling and labeling; and implant logs
- Anticipate surgeon needs and pass supplies, medications, and irrigation to the sterile field
- Complete accurate, timely intraoperative documentation in the EMR
- Assist anesthesia with induction, airway management, and emergence as needed
Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU)
- Receive handoff from anesthesia and assume care of the post-operative patient in PACU
- Monitor and document vital signs, airway, oxygenation, level of consciousness, pain, nausea, and surgical site and drain output
- Administer post-operative analgesia and antiemetics per protocol; manage PONV proactively
- Recognize and respond to post-anesthesia complications, including airway compromise, hemodynamic instability, bleeding, hematoma, and delayed emergence
- Apply and adjust compression garments, dressings, binders, and drains
- Prepare for discharge criteria and confirm readiness for discharge
- Provide clear verbal and written discharge instructions to the patient and their responsible adult caregiver, covering drain care, garment wear, activity restrictions, medication schedule, and red-flag symptoms
- Complete post-operative follow-up calls and triage patient concerns
Facility Accreditation & Quality (QUAD A)
- Serve as the practice’s point person for QUAD A accreditation, maintaining continuous survey readiness rather than scrambling at renewal
- Maintain and update the facility policy and procedure manual so that written policy reflects both current standards and actual practice
- Own accreditation documentation and logs, including sterilization and biological indicator records, equipment preventive maintenance and calibration, medication and controlled-substance logs, crash cart and emergency supply checks, and temperature and humidity records
- Schedule, run, and document required drills and staff competencies — malignant hyperthermia, local anesthetic systemic toxicity, fire, cardiac arrest, and emergency transfer
- Collect, trend, and report quality-improvement and peer-review data, including case logs, adverse events, infection surveillance, and unanticipated transfers or returns to the OR
- Conduct internal chart audits and mock surveys, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions to closure
- Assemble the self-assessment and supporting evidence for re-accreditation and serve as a primary contact during the on-site survey
- Track QUAD A standard revisions and communicate changes to physicians and staff
Scope note: the depth of accreditation ownership is negotiable. A candidate who has led a survey may take the program outright; a candidate newer to accreditation would start by supporting our current accreditation lead and grow into ownership.
Provider & Staff Credentialing
- Own credentialing and re-credentialing for all clinical staff and our 10+ contracted anesthesiologists, from initial file build through ongoing maintenance
- Perform and document primary source verification of licensure, DEA registration, board certification, education and training, and work history
- Maintain complete, audit-ready credentialing files that satisfy accreditation and payer requirements
- Track every expirable and drive timely renewal — RN, MD/DO, and CRNA licensure, DEA, BLS/ACLS/PALS, malpractice coverage, immunizations and TB screening, and OSHA and HIPAA training
- Run the re-credentialing cycle on a defined calendar and escalate any lapse well before it can affect the surgical schedule
- Confirm that every anesthesia provider is fully credentialed and insured before being scheduled to a case
- Query and monitor exclusion and sanction sources, including OIG, SAM, the Texas Medical Board, and the Texas Board of Nursing
- Maintain a credentialing calendar and status dashboard and report to practice leadership on a regular cadence
- Coordinate onboarding documentation, orientation, and competency validation for new clinical hires
Medical Weight Loss & GLP-1 Program
- Administer GLP-1 and related weight management injections per provider order and established protocol
- Educate patients on injection technique, titration schedule, expected side effects, hydration, protein intake, and activity
- Conduct follow-up visits and check-ins, documenting weight, vital signs, body composition, tolerance, and adherence
- Monitor, triage, and document side effects such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, and injection-site reactions, and escalate to the provider for dose adjustment or medication change
- Recognize and escalate red-flag findings, including suspected pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, significant dehydration, and hypoglycemia in patients on concurrent diabetes medication
- Coordinate laboratory work, refills, and pharmacy communication, and maintain accurate medication logs and inventory for the program
- Screen weight loss patients for surgical readiness and coordinate with the surgical side, including current pre-operative GLP-1 hold guidance for patients scheduled for anesthesia
- Support patient retention through consistent, documented follow-up and visible progress tracking
Dosing and titration decisions are made by the physician or advanced practice provider. The RN executes the plan, monitors response, and escalates.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain surgical inventory, implant stock, medication and controlled-substance logs, and crash cart and emergency supplies
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, bloodborne pathogen, and infection-control requirements
- Oversee instrument processing and sterilization monitoring, including biological indicator testing and documentation
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff on safe practice and lead periodic in-service education
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas, or eligibility for licensure by start date
- Minimum 2 years of recent operating room experience in the circulator role
- Demonstrated PACU / post-anesthesia recovery experience, including independent recovery of patients under general anesthesia
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification, or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Strong working knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile field management, surgical counts, and instrument sterilization
- Ability to independently recognize and respond to intraoperative and post-anesthesia emergencies
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate perioperative documentation
- Demonstrated administrative discipline — the organization to own recurring compliance and credentialing calendars alongside a clinical caseload
- Comfort with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and with building and maintaining tracking spreadsheets and documentation systems
- Excellent communication skills and a warm, discreet, service-oriented manner with elective aesthetic patients
- Ability to stand for extended periods, assist with patient positioning and transfers, and lift up to 35 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, or an office-based or ambulatory surgery center setting
- Direct experience preparing for or leading a QUAD A, AAAASF, AAAHC, or Joint Commission accreditation survey
- Experience with provider credentialing, primary source verification, or medical staff services (CPCS or CPMSM certification a plus)
- Experience with medical weight loss or GLP-1 therapy management
- Prior charge nurse, clinical coordinator, or nurse management experience
- Experience with tumescent and local-anesthesia cases and moderate/IV sedation
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Interest in cross-training on aesthetic services such as injectables, lasers, or IV therapy
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- Surgery days in the OR; non-surgery days protected for accreditation, credentialing, and weight loss program work
- No nights, no weekends, no call
- Occasionally early start or late finishing depending on the surgical schedule
