Company Description Four Rivers STEAM Charter School is a K-8 public charter school dedicated to integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics into a rigorous, project-based learning environment. Located in Freehold Township, NJ, the school emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-driven instruction that prepares students for college, careers, and civic engagement. Educators collaborate across disciplines to design interdisciplinary units that reflect real-world challenges and opportunities. Four Rivers STEAM Charter School values equity, inclusion, and student voice, fostering a supportive community where every learner is encouraged to explore, innovate, and grow.

Role Description The Dean of STEM is a full-time, on-site leadership role based at Four Rivers STEAM Charter School in Freehold Township, NJ. This role oversees the vision, development, and implementation of STEM curricula and instructional practices across grade levels, ensuring alignment with state standards and the school’s STEAM mission. Day-to-day responsibilities include coaching and mentoring STEM teachers, observing classrooms, providing feedback, and supporting data-informed instructional decisions. The Dean collaborates with school leadership to design professional development, coordinate STEM-focused projects and events, and strengthen partnerships with community organizations, higher education, and industry. The role also includes monitoring student achievement in STEM, promoting equitable access to advanced coursework and enrichment opportunities, and helping maintain a safe, inclusive, and intellectually engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

Certified by the New Jersey Department of Education to be a School administrator based on following criteria: https://www.nj.gov/education/certification/leaders/slcerts/0101CE.shtml
Strong background in STEM education, with demonstrated expertise in at least one core discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) and familiarity with interdisciplinary STEAM approaches.
Experience in curriculum design and instructional leadership, including the ability to develop standards-aligned units, assessments, and project-based learning experiences.
Proven skills in data analysis and academic program evaluation to monitor student progress and guide continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Ability to coach, mentor, and support educators through regular feedback, collaborative planning, and targeted professional development.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills for working with students, staff, families, and community partners.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience supporting a wide range of learners and implementing culturally responsive practices.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the capacity to manage multiple initiatives, schedules, and stakeholder needs.
Master’s degree in Education, STEM field, Educational Leadership, or a closely related discipline preferred; appropriate teaching or administrative certification for New Jersey strongly preferred.
Several years of successful classroom teaching experience in a STEM area and prior experience in a leadership, coordinator, or dean role is highly desirable.
