Responsible for managing all equipment entering and leaving the dealership yard, ensuring machinery is safe, clean, and ready for customer use. Performs equipment check-in and check-out, conducts detailed inspections, completes basic preventative maintenance tasks, and maintains an organized and hazard-free yard environment. Works closely with the service team to coordinate equipment movement, staging, and logistics in support of sales, rental, and service operations.

Performs equipment check-in and check-out with accurate documentation, including 360° inspections and photographic documentation to track condition and prevent damage disputes.

Loads and unloads equipment from trailers and low-boys; operates skid steer loaders, forklifts, or similar equipment to move and stage machinery safely.

Mounts buckets and hooks up all attachments; performs test runs to verify equipment is functioning and ready for customer use.

Checks and fills fluid levels (oil, hydraulic, coolant, fuel, etc.) and inspects tire pressure and other key indicators as part of pre-rental and pre-sale preparation.

Greases equipment as required; performs minor repairs and light service tasks as directed by the service manager.

Pressure washes and steam cleans returned equipment; removes accumulated dirt and debris prior to cleaning as needed.

Maintains the equipment yard in an orderly and clean condition; shovels walkways and assists with snow removal and general yard upkeep as required.

Communicates equipment status and condition to service, rental, and sales departments as appropriate.

Assists with equipment deliveries, pickups, and logistics coordination as needed.

Maintains accurate records and inspection reports for all equipment processed through the yard.

Operates and maintains company-owned tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean and working condition.

Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.

Maintains a clean and organized work area and performs all tasks in a neat, orderly fashion.

Performs all other duties as assigned by the Branch Service Manager.

Working knowledge of heavy equipment operations and mechanical functions, including backhoes, dozers, skid steers, excavators, and similar machinery.

Ability to perform minor repairs and light service tasks across major equipment types and systems.

Experience operating forklifts, skid steer loaders, or other material-handling equipment preferred.

Ability to conduct thorough equipment inspections and accurately document findings, including photographic records.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple equipment units and tasks simultaneously.

Basic computer skills sufficient to complete documentation and inspection records.

Valid driver's license required; ability to operate a pickup truck for occasional equipment-related deliveries.

Prior experience in construction, equipment rental, yard operations, or a related field preferred.

Technical school certificate or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs preferred.

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.

Walking and standing approximately 80% or more of the work day on a variety of surfaces including concrete, gravel, mud, and uneven terrain, including in inclement weather.

Frequent bending at the waist and knees, reaching at shoulder level and above, kneeling, squatting, and climbing on and under equipment.

Regularly lifting and carrying items weighing 20–50 lbs; occasionally lifting 50–75+ lbs.

Frequent pushing and pulling of tools, parts, and equipment.

Manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools, wrenches, and other service equipment.

Adequate vision and hearing to conduct equipment inspections and communicate effectively in a yard and shop environment.
This position is primarily performed outdoors in a heavy equipment yard environment with regular exposure to noise, dust, machinery, mud, and varying weather and temperature conditions. The employee will also work periodically in a shop or service bay setting to perform light repairs and maintenance tasks. Exposure to moving machinery, pressurized cleaning equipment, and heavy vehicles is expected throughout the work day.
