At Lofty Ideas Garage Solutions, we design and build custom overhead storage lofts that transform garages into highly functional storage spaces.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in quality work, and wants to learn residential carpentry from experienced professionals.
Whether you already have some construction experience or you're looking to build a career in the trades, we're willing to invest in the right person.
About the Role
You'll work directly alongside experienced carpenters building custom garage storage lofts throughout the Wasatch Front.
Every day is an opportunity to learn framing, layout, stair construction, structural connections, tool safety, and professional jobsite practices.
This is not a dead-end labor position. Our goal is to develop skilled carpenters who can continue growing within the company.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of custom garage storage lofts.
- Load, unload, and organize materials and tools.
- Measure, cut, and install framing materials under supervision.
- Help build platforms, stairs, railings, and structural components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
- Operate hand and power tools safely.
- Follow instructions from the lead carpenter.
- Learn construction techniques and company installation systems.
- Help prepare materials and tools for upcoming projects.
- Maintain company vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
QualificationsRequired
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Comfortable working on ladders.
Preferred
- Construction or carpentry experience.
- Experience using common hand and power tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Basic framing knowledge.
No formal carpentry experience is required if you're motivated to learn.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift 50–75 lbs.
- Occasionally assist with team lifting of heavy engineered beams.
- Comfortable climbing ladders throughout the day.
- Able to bend, kneel, reach overhead, and perform physically demanding work in residential garages.
Schedule
Our typical schedule averages three to four installation days each week. As we build out the team, we would like to be at a four to five installation days each week pace.
On weeks with lighter installation loads, we can additional time can be accrued by distributing marketing materials, preparing building materials, organizing tools, maintaining equipment, and getting ready for upcoming projects. Individuals who would like to keep their hours up will be kept busy. If an individual likes having more time off on shorter weeks, that is possible as well.
Our goal is to provide stable, year-round work while continuing to grow the company.
Compensation & Benefits
- $18.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Travel Policy: Employees are responsible for the first 30 minutes of travel each way to and from the jobsite, similar to a normal commute. Travel exceeding 30 minutes each direction is paid at the employee's regular hourly rate.
