Position Summary & Responsibilities:
This position processes all accounting transactions for the various fee funds at the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE). This includes, but not limited to, auditing and coding payment vouchers, posting payroll charges, reviewing and posting deposits, preparing and correcting entries, and reconciling agency accounting ledgers to records maintained in the state’s central accounting system (SMART). This position is also responsible for managing the agency’s vehicle pool, along with agency KTAGs and fuel cards. Additional responsibilities include managing the agency’s inventory, processing the agency’s rent payments, and processing the monthly payments for phone and internet.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of experience in professional accounting/auditing work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant to the agency.
Preferred Skills and/or Qualifications:

Knowledge of state and federal accounting rules, regulations and procedures;

Education and training in computerized accounting software; and
-
Highly skilled in developing and maintaining electronic spreadsheets and databases.
