Class A CDL Route Driver
Topeka, Kansas

The Class A CDL Retail Route Driver plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and timely collection and transportation of food waste and organic materials throughout the Baton Rouge, LA area. This position primarily operates an end-dump trailer on assigned local collection routes while maintaining the highest standards of safety, customer service, and operational efficiency.
Drivers are primarily assigned to local routes and are home daily, with occasional interstate travel as business needs require. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to protecting yourself, your coworkers, and the public.

Start time typically between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM

Assigned primarily to local routes

Home daily
-
May occasionally cross state lines based on operational needs
-
Flexibility to work additional hours during seasonal peak periods, including up to 60 hours in 7 days or 70 hours in 8 days, in accordance with DOT regulations
-
Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle with an end-dump trailer to collect and transport food waste and organic materials.

Complete assigned local and occasional interstate routes with approximately 15–25 customer stops per day.
-
Load, haul, and deliver food waste while following company routing and scheduling requirements.
-
Operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations and all federal, state, and local laws.
-
Safely operate manual and electric pallet jacks as needed.
-
Transport materials safely and efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.
-
Maintain professional relationships with customers during pickups and deliveries.
-
Pressure wash bins and containers when necessary and leave customer locations clean and free of debris.
-
Communicate service concerns, delays, customer requests, and operational issues promptly to dispatch and operations.
-
Represent Denali professionally while delivering dependable, high-quality service.
-
Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractors and trailers.
-
Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) accurately.
-
Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs to company bins and equipment using hand tools.
-
Maintain trucks, trailers, and equipment in clean, safe, and professional operating condition.
-
Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance concerns immediately.
-
Utilize electronic logging devices (ELDs) to maintain accurate Hours of Service records.

Complete and submit all required documentation, including:
-
Service tickets
-
Contamination reports
-
Vehicle inspection reports
-
Maintenance records
-
Maintain compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, federal, state, and local transportation regulations.

Follow all company safety policies and DOT regulations.
-
Attend weekly safety meetings, trainings, and operational briefings.
-
Immediately report accidents, injuries, spills, or unsafe conditions.
-
Wear required PPE and promote a safe work environment at all times.
-
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
-
Self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate Driver with the issuing state.
-
Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP).

Must be:
-
23 years of age with at least 2 years of verifiable full-time tractor-trailer experience, OR
-
21 years of age with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience and graduation from a certified truck driving school or 1 year of military driving experience.
-
Stable employment history.
-
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
-
Previous experience operating end-dump trailers.
-
Experience with local route delivery and multiple daily customer stops.
-
Experience hauling food waste, agricultural products, bulk commodities, or organic materials.
-
Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
-
Basic mechanical aptitude for preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
-
Strong customer service and communication skills.
-
Frequently lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds.
-
Ability to regularly bend, stoop, twist, shovel, reach overhead, and climb in and out of equipment.
-
Ability to work around food waste, agricultural materials, and strong odors.
-
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.

This position operates primarily outdoors and requires frequent interaction with customer locations, food manufacturers, restaurants, industrial facilities, farms, and recycling operations. Drivers should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and around food waste and organic materials while maintaining a clean, professional appearance and a strong commitment to safety.
