Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Grants and Accounting, the Controller position is responsible for the accounting, payroll, and finance operations of Drew CDC, to include financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budget designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of Drew CDC’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.This position must demonstrate the ability to manage Drew CDC’s budget, optimize and organize finances while management the accounting team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

· Financial Management - Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), advanced financial and accounting concepts, financial metrics, and the ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret financial statements and related information.

· Direct and manage the accounting operations/activities to ensure the financial system is efficient and data is accurate, timely and in accordance with accounting standards and governmental regulations.

· Create and maintain internal controls and financial policies to maximize and establish process efficiency and mitigate risks.

· Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for external partners and funders, as well as financial statements, forecast revenue, expenditures, and year-end balances.

· Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance explanations for upper management and department directors.

· Manages the annual independent audit engagement, including designated contract reviews.

· Implement new technologies that streamline and automate the reporting, forecasting, and budgeting process.

· Manages the accounting team to achieve accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and debt payments in alignment with the department policies and procedures

· Manages the accounting staff to ensure compliance with federal, state, and county award guidelines.

· Functions successfully within Drew CDC’s employee policies and procedures.

· Attend Agency meetings and serve on work-related committees, as assigned.

· Perform effective supervision of assigned staff including conducting evaluations, supervisory meetings, staff meetings, and discipline.

· Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

· Demonstrate knowledge and experience of managing service delivery contracts.

· Comprehensive working knowledge of division planning, organizational structure, budgeting, administrative operations, and fundraising.

· Knowledge of financial models and COSO internal controls.

· Expertise in working complex service delivery contracts and metrics to enhance value creation.

· Ability to think analytically and problem solve.

SKILL TO:

· Advance knowledge of accounting software and personal computer skills including implementation and management computerized accounting systems, word processing, spreadsheet, and payroll software.

· Demonstrate experience of managing teams in a multi-site structure to include professional development and mentorship.

· Demonstrate technical knowledge and skill in using Microsoft Office Products including but not limited to MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

· Strong organizational skills

ABILITY TO:

· Work simultaneously on multiple tasks and projects.

· Use performance-related databases, and working knowledge of information technology, both existing and emerging.

· Demonstrate effective research, organizational, problem solving and communication skills.

· Ability to be flexible, multi-task, and work in fast-paced environment.

· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration; CPA certification.

· An associate degree with five (5) years of experience in accounting management or equivalent position.

No less than three (3) years of accounting experience and supervisory experience required for a nonprofit company working with complex local governments grants or general service contracts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Pay: $100,705.00 - $127,392.00 per year
