About the Position

California Dermatology Institute is seeking a Director of Medical Dispensing to oversee and manage our in-office medication dispensing operations.

This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, medication coordination, inventory, insurance processing, reimbursement, staff management, compliance, and continued growth of the dispensing program.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, knowledgeable about specialty medications and biologics, and comfortable working closely with physicians, pharmacy staff, billing, and administrative teams.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily in-office medication dispensing operations
Manage specialty medications and biologics
Coordinate medication ordering, purchasing, inventory, and reconciliation
Monitor medication expiration dates and proper storage
Oversee insurance verification and authorization processes
Monitor pharmacy and medical benefit claims and reimbursement
Work with billing teams to resolve payment and claim issues
Monitor copays and patient financial responsibilities
Develop and maintain dispensing policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with applicable pharmacy and healthcare requirements
Train and supervise dispensing staff
Track dispensing activity, inventory, revenue, and expenses
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability
Work closely with physicians and clinical staff
Support dispensing operations across multiple office locations
Prepare regular operational and financial reports for management
Assist leadership with expanding the in-office dispensing program

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, medical dispensing, healthcare operations, or a related field
Experience with specialty medications or biologics preferred
Knowledge of insurance benefits, authorizations, and reimbursement
Experience with medication inventory management
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and locations
Strong attention to detail
Healthcare, pharmacy, or business administration background preferred

Compensation

per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
