Full Job Description

At Top Care Support, we are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centered services that empower individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD) to live meaningful, self-directed lives. We are seeking a dedicated Behavior Specialist who combines clinical expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with a deep respect for the individuals we serve.

In this role, you will support individuals in achieving their personal goals through the use of ethical, evidence-based ABA practices that emphasize skill development, independence, and improved quality of life. Services are designed around each individual’s strengths, preferences, and needs, ensuring supports are both effective and meaningful.

This is a highly collaborative, community-based position requiring regular travel to individuals’ homes, programs, and community settings to ensure consistent, high-quality implementation of behavior supports in real-world environments.

Core Responsibilities

Individualized, Person-Centered Assessment
Conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments (FBAs) using ABA methodologies to understand the purpose of behavior within the context of the individual’s environment, communication, and personal goals.

Development of High-Quality Support Plans
Design and implement individualized behavior support plans grounded in ABA principles, focusing on reinforcement, skill acquisition, and proactive strategies that promote independence and reduce the need for restrictive interventions.

Consistent Implementation & Quality Improvement
Monitor the effectiveness of interventions across settings, using data collection and analysis to ensure fidelity of implementation and to guide ongoing, meaningful adjustments.

Collaborative Team Approach
Partner with the Agency BCBA, families, Direct Support Professionals, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure behavior strategies are consistently applied and aligned with person-centered outcomes.

Coaching, Training & Support
Provide hands-on training and ongoing coaching to staff and families in ABA-informed strategies, ensuring confidence, consistency, and quality in service delivery.

Data-Driven Practice
Utilize ABA-based data collection methods to track progress, identify trends, and inform decision-making, supporting continuous improvement in outcomes and service quality.

Proactive Crisis Prevention & Response
Apply positive behavior supports and ABA strategies to reduce the likelihood of crisis situations, and respond safely and respectfully when needed, always prioritizing the dignity and well-being of the individual.

Documentation & Quality Assurance
Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation, including behavior plans, data records, and progress reports, ensuring transparency, accountability, and high standards of care.

Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with applicable regulations, including Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) requirements, while adhering to ethical standards in ABA practice.

Community Integration & Skill Building
Support individuals in developing communication, social, and daily living skills using ABA-based teaching strategies that promote independence and meaningful participation in their communities.

Core Skills & Competencies

Ability to develop and implement individualized, person-centered behavior support plans that promote independence and meaningful outcomes
Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), including functional assessment, reinforcement strategies, skill acquisition programming, and behavior reduction techniques, applied in an ethical and person-centered manner
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret behavioral data and make evidence-based decisions that enhance service quality
Effective and respectful communication skills, with the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with individuals, families, and team members
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, coordinated, and high-quality care
Commitment to ethical practice, ongoing professional development, and continuous quality improvement
Proficiency with basic computer systems and data collection or documentation tools

Provide in-person assessment, supervision, and coaching across multiple locations
Maintain a flexible schedule to meet the needs of individuals and teams
Ensure consistent, high-quality, and ABA-informed service delivery across all environments

Reliable transportation and the ability to travel independently are essential for success in this role.
