Full Job Description

Physician Assistant – Obesity Medicine / Cardiometabolic Medicine, Part-Time

Schedule: Part-time | 28 hours/week | Ramp-up during onboarding
Pay: $72–$84/hour, based on relevant outpatient experience, prior experience with obesity or chronic medication management, and ability to work independently after orientation.
Location: In person

Seeking a thoughtful, dependable Physician Assistant for a flexible, part-time outpatient role in a supportive cardiometabolic medicine practice, with a primary focus on obesity medicine and structured follow-up care for patients using obesity management medications.

This position is ideal for a PA who enjoys longitudinal patient care, values good communication and documentation, and wants to work in a friendly, well-run clinic where patients are treated with warmth, respect and careful attention. For the right candidate, this role offers meaningful mentorship and the opportunity to develop additional expertise in lipid disorders, fatty liver disease and cardiovascular risk reduction.

This is a collaborative role with physician support and teaching. Prior experience in obesity medicine, endocrinology, primary care, internal medicine, gastroenterology or cardiology is preferred, but we are also happy to teach the right candidate.

Core Responsibilities Include:

Perform outpatient follow-up visits for patients being treated for obesity and related cardiometabolic conditions
Assess medication efficacy, tolerability, side effects, adherence, and appropriateness of dose escalation or refill
Provide patient education around obesity management medications, side effect management and follow-up expectations
Manage routine refill requests and medication-related patient messages within established practice protocols
Assist with callbacks, prescription coordination, prior authorization-related clinical questions, documentation, and other patient care tasks
Document visits clearly, accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
Communicate with the supervising physician regarding complex cases, safety concerns, treatment uncertainty or patients requiring physician-level review
Maintain excellent HIPAA compliance, professionalism and patient confidentiality at all times
Work collaboratively with our small team to support a smooth, respectful, and high-quality patient experience

What We’re Looking For

Licensed Physician Assistant in New Jersey, or ability to obtain New Jersey licensure prior to start date
Current NCCPA certification
Outpatient clinical experience required, must be independent (i.e. not in training).
Experience in obesity medicine, endocrinology, primary care, internal medicine, cardiology preferred
Excellent clinical judgment and willingness to ask questions when appropriate
Strong documentation habits and attention to detail
Comfort with medication management, patient education and longitudinal follow-up care
Warm, professional communication style with patients and staff
Ability to work independently while also functioning well within a small, collaborative practice
Comfort using an electronic medical record; experience with eClinicalWorks is a plus
Strong commitment to HIPAA compliance, patient privacy and professional boundaries

The practice is closed on certain holidays and planned practice-wide closure periods. Employees are paid for their regularly scheduled hours during designated paid closures, and this time does not reduce accrued PTO. Closure dates may vary by year based on the practice calendar; the annual schedule has historically included an end-of-year holiday closure.
