Position Summary
The Executive Director serves as the chief ministry and operations leader of Freedom Builders Mission, providing spiritual, strategic, and operational leadership to ensure the faithful execution of the organization’s mission: demonstrating Christ’s love through critical home repair for families in need.
This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day ministry operations, supervising staff, directing organizational systems, guiding field ministry leadership, and ensuring excellence in service delivery throughout the five-county region.
The Executive Director provides leadership for ministry vision, staff development, field operations oversight, financial stewardship, and strategic growth while maintaining a close connection to the families and communities served.
While the Director of Development reports directly to the Board and oversees fundraising, donor development, volunteer recruitment, and church engagement, the Executive Director collaborates closely with that role to align ministry operations with organizational growth.
Leadership Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Provide overall vision and leadership for the ministry.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to implement strategic and long-term planning.
- Develop systems that support organizational sustainability and future expansion.
- Lead organizational planning related to staffing, operational capacity, and ministry effectiveness.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee all day-to-day operations of Freedom Builders Mission.
- Ensure strong coordination between the office, warehouse, project sites, and ministry staff.
- Supervise administrative systems, workflows, scheduling, and reporting processes.
- Supervise office functions, including finance, IT, records management, communications, and follow-up systems.
- Supervise the Project Manager and Administrative Assistant.
- Maintain appropriate nonprofit governance and compliance practices.
Operations Oversight
Field Operations
- Oversee overall field operations to ensure mission-centered project completion, including regular site visits
- Prioritize and manage client scheduling.
- Assess and prioritize client needs through regular communication and site visits.
- Ensure families are served with dignity, compassion, and excellence.
- Serve as project team leader once a month ( recommended) to stay connected to field staff, volunteers, families, and project realities.
- Provide spiritual encouragement to volunteers and families during project work.
Financial Operations
- Administer the annual ministry budget in partnership with the Board.
- Oversee and administer ministry expenses.
- Oversee and administer vendor invoice payments.
- Maintain sound financial accountability systems.
- Coordinate strong vendor and supplier relationships.
- Oversee maintenance of vehicles, trailers, equipment, office, and warehouse.
- Ensure proper care, safety, and readiness of all ministry equipment.
Board Partnership
- Serve as the primary operational liaison to the Board of Directors.
- Provide regular ministry updates regarding operations, staffing, finances, and strategic needs.
- Communicate ministry opportunities and operational challenges clearly and consistently.
Director of Development Partnership
Because the Director of Development reports directly to the Board and leads fundraising and external growth functions, the Executive Director collaborates with the Director of Development to further the mission’s objectives.
This includes:
- Sharing client stories and ministry outcomes that strengthen donor communication.
- Participating in donor, church, or campaign meetings when executive operational insight would be beneficial.
- Helping ensure that fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and church engagement efforts are aligned with current ministry operations and future organizational needs.
Qualifications
- Model Servant Leadership characteristics
- Significant leadership experience in ministry, nonprofit leadership, operations management, construction leadership, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and team leadership skills.
- Strong communication, relational leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Construction or project management experience strongly preferred.
- Passion for serving vulnerable families through practical ministry.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
