Inventory Control Manager
OVERVIEW
Market Speed Logistics is creating a brand-new role for an Inventory Control Manager to drive accuracy, accountability, and process excellence in our multi-client 3PL environment. This position is hands-on and will require someone ready to dive into the work immediately while also building and developing a small team for the long term.
The ideal candidate will bring deep inventory control experience, particularly with health and beauty products, and will have the communication, analytical, and leadership skills needed to ensure inventory control is taken seriously throughout the organization. This role is critical to our success and will be a key member of the management team, working closely with leadership to solve problems, implement improvements, and maintain the highest levels of accuracy and client satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, lead and perform physical inventories, daily counts, cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation of inventory records. Investigates discrepancies, analyzes and corrects accordingly.
- Take ownership of building a strong cycle count program while developing and mentoring a small team for long-term success.
- Serve as a strong advocate for inventory control, ensuring its importance is upheld across the organization.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly, identifying root causes and implementing corrective processes to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate and execute certified destruction requests from clients, working closely with Customer Service to plan and manage all related activities.
- Audits inventory transactions and locations physically and systematically.
- Partner with management to design, implement, and monitor KPIs that drive accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Service, Operations, and other departments to address order issues, troubleshoot discrepancies, and keep the business moving forward.
- Ensure all inventory processes and reports are completed accurately, timely, and in alignment with business objectives.
- Support strategic planning and work prioritization to balance client-driven needs with overall operational requirements.
- Provide reporting and recommendations to leadership on performance results, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Train, coach, and develop staff; oversee staffing, scheduling, and workload planning.
- Maintain safe work practices and compliance with OSHA and company policies.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed—especially during peak seasons and physical inventories.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· 5+ years of experience in inventory control, with proven success managing counts, reconciliations, and process improvements.
- 5+ years of experience in a 3PL multi-client warehouse environment, preferably with health and beauty products.
- Experience safely operating warehouse machinery including Reach Truck, Cherry Picker, Electric Pallet Jack and Sit Down Forklift
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop sustainable solutions.
- Proven experience in team building, supervision, and coaching—able to lead like an owner.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and build credibility across the organization.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills; able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reporting).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while being an engaged, collaborative member of the management team.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical duties as required in a warehouse environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or Management preferred.
- Prior experience leading process improvement initiatives in a warehouse/distribution setting.
- Familiarity with warehouse systems and technology, including WMS and RF scanning tools.
- Background working with health and beauty products.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Schedule: Normal schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM, with the flexibility to work extended hours, early mornings, evenings, or weekends as business needs require (particularly during peak seasons and physical inventories).
- Work Environment: Warehouse setting; requires lifting, bending, standing, and physical activity as part of daily responsibilities.

When inventory is not accurate, it impacts everything from order fulfillment and client reporting to customer satisfaction and our ability to operate efficiently. The Inventory Control Manager will take ownership of this critical function, ensuring inventory control is treated as a priority throughout the organization and that the right processes, accountability, and standards are in place.
This is also a unique opportunity to build something for the long term. As the function grows, the goal is to develop a dedicated inventory control team, and this person will have the opportunity to help establish the processes, structure, and culture that will support that team. At the same time, this is a key member of our management team who will work directly and collaboratively with ownership and other leaders to identify issues, solve problems, improve processes, and ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy are being met across the operation.
