Quality Manager

Champion Plastics, Inc. — Auburn Hills, MI Full-time / On-site

About Us

Champion Plastics has been a precision injection molder since 1980, supplying automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers from our Auburn Hills facility. We're IATF 16949 certified and run a highly automated facility. You will own quality for the entire company, and you work directly with ownership every day.

If you want a role where your decisions actually move the business and you're not waiting on three layers of approval, this is it.

The Role

You will have total ownership of the Quality Department — the systems, the certifications, the customer relationships, and the shop-floor discipline that holds it all together.

This is a hands-on position. You'll be on the floor running gages, pulling parts, working with operators, and doing the measurement work yourself and your staff.

Quality Systems & Certification

Maintain and continuously improve our IATF 16949 system; support ISO 14001 and VDA 6.3 requirements
Plan and conduct internal audits and layered process audits
Serve as an active participant in IATF audits for all commercial-related items
Monitor and execute annual validations
Manage change control across the organization

Customer Quality

Own customer complaint response, including 8D and 5-Why problem solving through to closure
Engage on any customer quality concern that arises, drive responsive answers, and communicate closure back to the customer
Maintain supplier scorecards
Submit and maintain IMDS entries

New Product Launch

Lead the APQP process and participate actively in APQP team meetings
Prepare and submit PPAP packages for new products
Collaborate with our gage supplier on gage design
Maintain spare parts lists and job books

Measurement & Process Control

Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Gage R&R studies
Manage the calibration program
Own in-process checks and SPC
Monitor and verify drawing revision control

Shop Floor & Material Control

Create and maintain setup sheets and work instructions
Incoming material inspection, FIFO, and lot traceability compliance
Administer the red bin (nonconforming material) process
Drive 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
Monitor and verify employee training records

Cross-Functional

Participate in the weekly sales/engineering meeting, driving action items to closure
Support a clean, safe, and effective organization through other related activities as needed

What You Bring

Required

Minimum three years of applicable injection molding experience
A hands-on approach — comfortable working on the floor, on the machines, and with the people running them
Working knowledge of ISO / IATF 16949
Hands-on PPAP experience
8D problem solving
5S
Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T
Proficient with computers, data entry, and related software (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
Strong relationship development skills — with customers, suppliers, and the people on the floor

Preferred

Keyence experience (IM series, vision systems)
CMM programming
Bachelor's degree
Formal computer or software training
VDA 6.3 and ISO 14001 exposure
IMDS experience
