Full Job Description

Fabricator Set-up Technician: Minimum 7 yrs experience.

Ability to fabricate a wide range of weldments ranging from handheld, close tolerance to large frames and plate weldment weighing up to 5 tons. Primarily mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Weld processes: Mig, Tig & FCAW.

· Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret detailed blueprints. Understand both weldment & machine drawings.

· Knowledge: proficient with various metal properties and fabrication techniques (cutting, shaping, bending, grinding, straightening).

· Skills: Strong math skills for precise measurements and calculations.

Fitting and Alignment: Must own precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, squares, etc) and hand tools. Knowledge to use them and tools like clamps, jigs, fixtures, and angle blocks to tack weldments together for final weld.

Material Handling: Must have experience using material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes. PCW has precision set up tables.

· Other: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods. Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.

Summary

As a Fabricator Set-up Technician, you will support manufacturing operations by preparing and configuring fabrication equipment to produce precision components. Reporting to the production supervisor, you will set up manual machines, interpret blueprints, verify tolerances, and ensure tooling and fixtures are correctly installed. Your core skills in machining, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will drive efficient setup, calibration, and quality outcomes. Previous experience with material handling and welding enhances versatility in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate fabrication machines to prepare parts for production.

Interpret mechanical blueprints and drawings, select appropriate tools, and monitor tolerances using calipers and bore gauges.

Perform material handling tasks, load/unload parts, and assist with assembly as needed; conduct basic quality checks and document results.

Maintain tooling, fixtures, and work area.

Adhere to safety procedures, forklift and material handling equipment protocols, and keep work area clean and organized.

Pay: $26.00 - $31.00 per hour
