Justin Dille Construction is looking for a dependable Construction Laborer / Carpenter Apprentice who wants to build their residential construction skills and become a long-term member of our field team.
We are a local, veteran-owned general contracting company serving Truckee and North Tahoe. Our work includes high-end renovations and remodels, additions, custom cabinetry, finish carpentry, project planning, and other residential construction. We value quality craftsmanship, integrity, collaboration, professionalism, and strong relationships with our clients and subcontractors.
Experience is helpful, but for this position we care most about reliability, work ethic, attitude, safety, and a genuine willingness to learn. This is intended to be a growth position: as your skills improve, you will be given increasingly complex carpentry work and greater responsibility.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Jobsite setup, material protection, and cleanup
- Selective demolition and material handling
- Assisting with rough framing, blocking and insulation
- Assisting with window and door installation
- Assisting with cabinet and finish-trim installation
- Hardware, accessories, appliances and punch-list work
- Organizing tools and materials and maintaining a clean jobsite
- Supporting carpenters and subcontractors as needed
What We're Looking For:
- Someone who shows up on time, prepared, and ready to work
- Follows instructions and asks questions when something is unclear
- Takes care of tools, materials, and clients' homes
- Works safely and professionally around homeowners, coworkers, and subcontractors
- Wants to learn construction as a trade and improve every week
- Looks for the next productive task rather than waiting to be reminded
- Can perform physical construction work and safely lift/carry typical construction materials and tools
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and reliable transportation to Truckee/North Tahoe projects
Tools:
JDC provides major tools. Employees are encouraged to maintain a basic set of personal hand tools such as a tool belt, hammer, tape measure, speed square, utility knife, screwdriver, and similar everyday tools.
Compensation, Benefits & Growth:
- $25-$30/hour, depending on experience
- Weekly pay by direct deposit
- 90-day probationary period followed by a performance review
- Annual performance and wage reviews; raises are performance- and experience-based and are not automatic
- Onsite training and resources for professional growth
- Employer-paid accident insurance after successful completion of the 90-day probationary period
- Health insurance available after 90 days for employees working 35+ hours/week; JDC contributes 50% of the monthly premium
- Employees who decline the employer-sponsored health plan receive a $50 health stipend each paycheck
- Paid holidays after 90 days
- Mileage reimbursement for approved travel between job sites and requested material pickups
- Clear advancement path into Carpenter, Skilled Carpenter and Lead Carpenter roles
JDC evaluates employees on quality and quantity of work, job knowledge, dependability, initiative, judgment, attitude, attendance, and safety. Advancement is based on demonstrated ability and responsibility - not just years in the trade.
