Job Overview
We are currently looking for a head chef to execute a new steakhouse and seafood concept in Truckee, Ca. known as Truckee Prime. The opening date is planned for September of 2026 and the ad is being posted now so we can find the right person with the vision, experience, and attitude to make this venture successful. We are seeking an energetic and highly skilled Head Chef to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, from menu creation and food preparation to staff supervision and inventory management. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for fine dining, a strong background in food safety, and proven leadership abilities to inspire excellence in a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment. As the Head Chef, you will be the culinary visionary behind our brand, ensuring every dish meets our high standards of quality and presentation while fostering a positive, team-oriented atmosphere.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the entire kitchen team, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff, ensuring smooth shift operations and high morale
Develop innovative menus that align with current culinary trends and customer preferences, emphasizing quality ingredients and presentation
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain consistency, flavor, and presentation standards for all menu items
Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations and sanitation standards across all kitchen activities
Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste to optimize food costs
Supervise catering events and banquet services, coordinating with event planners to deliver flawless service
Implement training programs to enhance team skills in food handling, culinary techniques, and customer service excellence
Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance and ensure a clean, organized workspace conducive to efficient food production

Experience

Extensive culinary experience within the food industry, with a strong background in fine dining environments
Proven supervisory experience managing kitchen staff and leading diverse culinary teams
Demonstrated expertise in menu planning, food production, and catering operations
Familiarity with inventory management systems and food cost control strategies
Experience with banquet service, shift management, and restaurant operations is highly desirable
Knowledge of food safety standards and certifications required by local health authorities
Previous roles involving kitchen management or restaurant leadership will be considered an asset
