Position Summary
The primary role of the Area Manager is to direct the activities of multiple crews (typically 3-5) and to ensure that quality standards are achieved within an hourly budget. The Area Manager is to manage the accounts within the assigned portfolio throughout the landscape and snow seasons, through close customer relationships. The Area Manager will be responsible for employee development and developing a core production team. The Area Manager will ensure that budget projections, quality standards, and client retention rates are maintained within the department goals. Additionally, this person will work in coordination with the Irrigation, Turf & Ornamentals, Enhancement/Construction, and Administration departments to successfully achieve common operational goals and administrative compliance.

Ø Regularly inspect vehicles, equipment, and job sites to identify potential unsafe conditions and work practices
Ø Ensure that workers use appropriate PPE as required
Ø Promptly investigate and record all accidents, on-the-job injuries or illnesses, near misses, and reports of hazards
Detailed Responsibilities:
Ø Every morning ensure that crews leave the yard well equipped within ten minutes of start time.
Ø Every afternoon ensure that crews shut down and prepare for the following day of work
Ø Manage efficiency in work route and work schedule
Ø Perform vehicle inspections and follow up on repairs
Ø Job routing, sequencing, and scheduling
Ø Monitor proper irrigation coverage on properties to ensure efficient water management practices
Ø Keep site and irrigation maps updated in collaboration with water management division
Ø Implement small equipment fixes
Ø Manage crew equipment based on routing and property needs
Ø Perform monthly equipment inspections/inventory and follow up on repairs
Ø Manage and respond to crews’ emergencies
Ø Manage the execution of all work orders and client requests
Ø Collaborate with team on season ahead operational planning
Ø Oversee and Manage subcontractor communication and partnership
Ø Follow up with crew leader on site preventative or corrective tasks
Ø Perform (monthly/quarterly/annual) quality inspections at job sites; generate landscape quality audits to deliver to client
Ø Initiate and follow up on irrigation inspections and repairs
Ø Ensure overall landscape quality at sites to ELM standards
Ø Ensure a high level of client satisfaction to achieve maximum client retention rates. This will be accomplished by accurately understanding the client’s expectations and exceeding them through superior service.
Ø Upselling revenue and site improvements through irrigation repairs & upgrades, turf & ornamental opportunities, property enhancements, arborist services, and holiday decorating.
Ø Maintaining a cadence of a minimum of a monthly client meeting and communication
Ø Issue resolution
Ø Perform timely follow up on client communication and service requests within 24 hours
Ø Provide safety, technical, and equipment training to crews
Ø Manage conflict resolution
Ø Collaborate with Human Resources to manage and track attendance and time off (paid and unpaid)
Ø Perform disciplinary action, and ensure company forms are submitted to Human Resources
Ø Review and accept mobile timekeeping logs on a daily basis. Approve on a weekly basis
Ø Execute company employee performance review process annually
Ø Manage material and tool requisition (fertilizer, small tools, etc.)
Ø Train and build core production team
Ø Quality control
Ø Ensure employees are in company uniform at all times

Ø Review and interpret operational reports. Implement adjustments as needed

Minimum Qualifications:
Ø Ability to follow, teach and enforce safety rules and regulations
Ø Driver’s license with a clean driving record (Connecticut/New York preferred)
Ø Experience in leading landscape maintenance crews
Ø Ability to meet the physical demands required by the job
Ø Technical knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance practices
Ø Knowledge of equipment, tools and materials used in commercial landscaping
Ø Basic horticultural knowledge

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
