Summary/Objective of Position:
Under the general supervision of the IT Operations Manager, the ApplicationsWeb Support Specialist position will operate under the Information Technology Department to support the institutional mission through the planning and execution of technical projects. Maintaining the confidentiality of privileged information is a mandatory requirement across all support roles. The Applications and Web Support Specialist creates and maintains internal and external websites, handles content management systems, web servers, firewalls, and SSL certificates. Optimizes web-interfaced applications, managing critical platforms like Jenzabar, JICS, and SofDocs. Solves complex interface challenges by implementing automated web integrations and system backups. Enforces strict confidentiality of privileged data and ensures web performance and accessibility. Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications teams to sync digital content, navigation, and social media with institutional goals.

35% Responsible for web development and design, this role creates, optimizes, and maintains visually appealing, brand-consistent websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET, and WordPress. The position oversees daily updates of accurate, engaging content across the institutional website. Additionally, it manages the central Content Management System (CMS), configures user permissions, and enforces site integrity through the principle of least privilege. Monitors website performance metrics and user demographics to continuously improve the user experience, ensuring that digital tools evolve alongside technological trends.

30% Provides application Support and maintaining mobile apps and critical web systems, including Jenzabar EX, JICS, Softdocs and other applications, while building digital forms and automated workflows. Gathers technical requirements from users, manages onboarding projects, and writes custom code using JSON, HTML, SQL, and APls to streamline administrative tasks. Design web integrations, and testing unit changes in isolated environments to troubleshooting user issues and safely deploying live system updates.

10% Responsible for maintaining the security, integrity, and performance of institutional web pages to ensure high service availability. Responsibilities include executing regular software patches, tool optimizations, and plugin updates alongside implementing backup systems and disaster recovery plans. Enforces strict security compliance by managing firewalls, monitoring SSL certificates, and conducting vulnerability assessments. Monitor of website speed and uptime, utilizes technical solutions for optimization and script minification to maximize usability across mobile and desktop
- 15% Support the IT Team with project tasks. Provides training and support to students, faculty and staff on content management procedures and system usage, while serving as an advanced point of escalation for IT Helpdesk Deliver advanced technical support for complex interface and integration issues. Log, track, and troubleshoot user activities using the IT Help Desk Request System.

5% Works closely with Marketing and Communications teams to align web initiatives with institutional priorities, manages social media, and maintains digital archives of photos and videos. Diagnoses and resolves front-end code bugs, broken links, and site outages to minimize downtime, and provides technical guidance to faculty, staff, and internal stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS
EducationExperience
Minimum:
-
Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of professional web building using a content management system in a professional environment to publish, update, and manage web content.

WordPress experience is strongly preferred.
Preferred:
-
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Digital Arts, and 2-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Knowledge:

Proficiency in coding languages including TypeScript/Node.js, java, C++, PHP, ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS and Rest API.
- Administering enterprise platforms like Jenzabar, JICS, SofDocs, and MyDCPortal alongside CMS tools like WordPress.

Managing application deployments, server maintenance, Linux/Apache administration, and 365 Microsoft Server environments.
- Advanced relational database management, mySQL architecture, query optimization, performance tuning, and monitoring.
- Building and integrating web services, understanding security protocols, and managing responsive cross-platform user sessions.

Physical Requirements, Work EnvironmentTravel:

Frequently sit for long periods while working on computers; regularly walk around the office or campus.
- Frequently use hands and fingers to type, handle tools, and control computer equipment; reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, such as computer hardware or office supplies.
- Require close vision and the ability to adjust focus to read computer screens and inspect small tech parts.
