Full Job Description

Choice Adoptions is a non-profit child placing agency with offices in Portland and Seattle. We are looking for our next birth parent advocate for our Portland office. More about Choice can be found on our website at www.choiceadoptions.org.

Birth Parent Advocate:

Provide caring, non-judgmental support, advocacy and case management services to clients who are facing unexpected pregnancies.
Serve as Choice Adoptions’ representative to medical professionals and other organizations working with pregnant clients.
Respond promptly to all telephone, text or email intakes and provide assessment of client's needs and/or requests.
Provide clients with program information and assist clients in obtaining services for needs, such as housing, financial assistance, and medical insurance.
Assist clients in identifying and exploring options for the expected child in a non-judgmental manner, providing a positive atmosphere for making her/his best plan for the expected child.
Refer clients to appropriate services if the client chooses to parent. Support clients in the adoption planning and family selection process.
Facilitate match meetings between birth parents and prospective adoptive families.
Assist in adoption planning and the legal release of children, including execution of legal documents and preparation of contact agreement.
Assist hospital staff and birth families in carrying out the hospital plan at the time of birth.
Out-of-town (local to Oregon and Washington) travel and 24-hour availability can be required during the birth and placement of a child.
Provide follow-up advocacy and support to birth parents as needed and submit case notes and related documents in a timely manner.
Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills and contribute to team effort by accepting additional responsibilities as needed.

Program Administration:

Assist Program Directors with adoption client record keeping.
Assist with office duties, including answering the telephone and processing and maintaining client files and case notes.
Other office duties as assigned.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
