Full Job Description

Position Overview

The Supervisor, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) – Insurance Verification is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, productivity, and quality of insurance verification and related revenue cycle functions. This position works closely with clinic leadership, RCM management, and clinical teams to ensure insurance information is accurate, complete, and entered timely to support efficient billing and reimbursement.

The Supervisor will provide leadership, training, and support to RCM and clinic staff while identifying opportunities to improve workflows, reduce errors, and strengthen revenue cycle processes. This is an in-office position and requires regular interaction with staff across multiple clinic locations.

Essential Functions

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of RCM staff within assigned functions, including insurance verification, registration, billing, accounts receivable, collections, denial management, and related revenue cycle processes.
Monitor team productivity, accuracy, and quality metrics to ensure departmental goals and payer requirements are met.
Conduct daily audits of the insurance verification process completed by First Impression Team (FIT) members across all office locations.
Identify errors and opportunities for improvement and communicate feedback to clinic managers and team leaders.
Provide training, coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to staff.
Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
Travel between the home office and other clinic locations as needed.
Serve as the administrator of the Arizona Regional Insurance Guide (RIG), ensuring information remains accurate and current.
Create and distribute training materials related to insurance guidelines, payer requirements, and system navigation.
Work directly with clinical and administrative staff to resolve insurance verification, registration, and patient account issues.
Respond to questions regarding insurance eligibility, benefits, payer requirements, and the accurate entry of insurance information.
Research and communicate changes to insurance policies, payer guidelines, and reimbursement requirements.
Assist in resolving complex billing, coding, reimbursement, and registration issues, escalating unresolved concerns to RCM leadership when appropriate.
Support accurate and timely claim submission by ensuring patient and insurance information is complete and accurate.
Assist with resolving claim rejections, denials, and unpaid balances.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to identify and resolve documentation or registration issues that may impact reimbursement.
Prepare and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), productivity reports, trends, and outcomes for leadership review.
Assist the RCM Manager with end-of-day reporting and provide coverage for the RCM Manager when needed.
Participate in regional and cross-regional workgroups and process improvement initiatives.
Support implementation of system upgrades, workflow changes, and organizational policy updates.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance requirements.
Assist with establishing new insurance records within the system to support accurate claim billing.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, revenue cycle management, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, insurance verification, billing, or a related area.
At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong understanding of healthcare insurance verification, billing processes, payer requirements, and reimbursement practices.
Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and healthcare compliance requirements preferred.
Experience working with EHR/PM systems, payer portals, and billing platforms.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
