Director of Care Management (RN)

Full-Time | Day Shift | Sign-On Bonus Eligible | Oro Valley Hospital – Tucson, AZ

Oro Valley Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to lead our Care Management Department. As the Director of Care Management, you'll provide strategic leadership for care coordination, utilization management, discharge planning, and resource management while collaborating with physicians, hospital leaders, and community partners to improve patient outcomes and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

As Director of Care Management, you will:

Lead and oversee Care Management and Resource Management programs
Ensure compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and regulatory standards
Direct utilization management, discharge planning, and care coordination initiatives
Monitor severity of illness (SI), intensity of service (IS), length of stay (LOS), and avoidable days
Partner with physicians, case managers, social workers, and community agencies to optimize patient transitions of care
Oversee mandatory reporting requirements, including CPS and APS cases
Participate in patient care conferences and multidisciplinary rounds
Develop departmental goals, policies, and quality improvement initiatives

Leadership Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop Care Management staff
Manage staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and employee development
Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation
Monitor departmental performance, quality metrics, and operational efficiency
Implement process improvements and best practices
Support accreditation readiness and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

Required

Current Registered Nurse (RN) License (State or Compact)
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field

Seven (7) years of direct Care Management experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
3–5 years of Care Management or closely related healthcare experience
BLS certification within seven (7) days of hire

Preferred

Master's degree
Previous healthcare leadership experience (3–5 years)
