Overview

About the Opportunity

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals for breakfast, lunch, or dinner as assigned. This position supports efficient, timely, and friendly service while maintaining strong food safety, sanitation, and quality standards. The cook follows recipes, prepares food consistently, assists with stock rotation, and helps ensure residents receive meals that are well-prepared, well-presented, and served with care. This person is expected to take ownership of the cleanliness of their work area and department, as well as the quality of the food they prepare and serve.

Schedule Expectations

Flexibility is required. Our kitchen operates from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and scheduling may vary based on resident needs and department coverage. One day may require breakfast coverage, while another may require dinner coverage. This is not a set-schedule position; however, there are no late-night shifts. Full time and part time options available.

Critical Success Factors

· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and comprehend the same.

· Willingness to learn new food preparation techniques and presentation.

· Knowledge of special dietary needs of residents and the required meal prep techniques.

· Works well as part of a team, communicates respectfully, supports coworkers, and helps create a positive, reliable kitchen environment.

· Ability to effectively deal with conflict or customer complaints.

· Ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Follows all food safety and equipment safety procedures.

· Takes pride in food quality, presentation, consistency, and resident satisfaction.

· Maintains ownership of department cleanliness, including workstations, equipment, storage areas, and overall sanitation standards.

· Ability to "short order" cook.

· Must be dependable, punctual, self-motivated, flexible with scheduling needs, and able to work without constant supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

· Minimum of one year of cooking experience (some short order cooking) and quantity cooking.

· Must possess Serv-Safe certification, or willing to obtain upon hire.
