Position: Direct Care Worker for Group Home with Male Youths , Full time, Must be flexible with schedule. Currently offering two positions for the following shift:
2:00 PM-10:00 PM Shift 5 Days/Week Varies
Platinum insurance offered after 90 days
Job Posting: Manage and assist in daily living support and care of all youth in the group home setting.
Maintain a safe environment, and assist in managing healthy lifestyle choices for children in care, including education, daily activities and routines, communication with staff management, families and significant adults and caregivers involved in child’s care.
Minimum Requirements: Minimum requirements to obtain an entry level position with Casa D’Amore Family Care:
- At least 24 years of age
- Possess a valid Arizona driver's license
- Have a minimum of one year’s experience working with youth in a congregate care setting or equivalent
- Have at the minimum a high school diploma or GED
- Be able to obtain a valid Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Department of Public Safety
- Possess basic computer skills
- Meet driving requirements as defined (see below)
- May be required to use personal vehicle that meets minimum insurance requirements for driving. Employees must provide a copy of their current and valid car insurance and car registration (in their name).
- Have a clear pre-employment drug test result, as well as clear bi-annual and random drug testing results. A failed test will result in immediate termination.
- Requires training in specific service areas, such as sexual maladaptive behavior, significant trauma or sex trafficking.
- Be Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certified
- Must not be placed on probation or parole for the last ten (10) years from present date of hire.
*At this time, vaccines are highly recommended, but are not required.
Direct Support Specialist for Group Home with Male Youths Job Description: The Direct Support Specialist’s primary responsibility is to provide support and care for the young people living in the home and to maintain a safe environment, assist the youth by helping manage communication related to daily interactions; including but not limited to education, connections with outside agencies, maintain the health and safety of each youth, and facilitate recreation and social life skills. The employee will manage daily school homework and tutoring, meal preparation, and assistance with transporting children to and from appointments. This position requires a committed, energetic individual to be an empathetic listener, project a caring attitude, represent yourself as a positive role model and have a strong desire to help guide and foster youth so they may experience a normal, loving, supportive living environment.
Care may include therapeutic response to varied and significant trauma behaviors in youth. Staff is expected to utilize therapeutic rapport, crisis response, and work collaboratively with mental health providers. Staff will utilize positive behavior response, implement specific service plan goals and objectives, and communicate regularly with supervisor, case facilitator, and outside service agencies in a professional and outcomes-based manner.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Complete ongoing or orientation training, to include CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention and state required trainings totaling 24 hours per year
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings, agency trainings, and any administrative or supervisor requested trainings or meetings.
- Assist with client admission and discharge
- Complete paperwork related to daily logs or progress notes, individual behavior logs, transportation and case management.
- Follow an assigned schedule for daily activities and responsibilities.
- Oversee youth's completion of daily living tasks
- Manage planning and preparation of food purchasing, planning of meals and meal preparation.
- Follow house rules and schedules to provide consistency
- Manage and implement structured program objectives to assist youth in managing their daily behaviors
- Dispense medications
- Demonstrate knowledge of accepted childcare methods and behavior management techniques related to emotional and social needs of the youth, including significant trauma, sexually maladaptive behaviors and sex trafficking
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Apply common sense understanding and initiative to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
- Work cooperatively and courteously with staff, agencies and family members
- Perform all duties in accordance with federal and state guidelines and organization policies and procedures
- Adhere to and maintain all DCS licensing facility standards and contract requirements.
- Physical Requirements: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, standing and communication with youths and adults involved in the youth's cases. Some lifting and managing resistance may be required as well as use of physical intervention techniques in emergency situations. Light general housekeeping duties as well as outside upkeep may be required. Use of computers, office equipment, and writing necessary for required paperwork. Driving a 15 passenger van or smaller work vehicle required for transport/business purposes.
Minimum starting Salary: Negotiable depending on experience and educational level as well as staffed position. Candidates with DSP certification, Bachelor's or Master's level education may be eligible for an increase in starting salary.

Educational Requirements: High School Diploma required, higher education preferred
Terms of Employment: Full time: Position scheduling is flexible and may vary due to youth’s weekly schedule.
Driving Requirements: Employees must submit a driving record (Motor Vehicle Report) for the past 5 (five) years prior to employment and bi-annually that supports the following requirements:
- No revocation or suspension of driver’s license
- No Driving while intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) during anytime while employed by the agency or in the five (5) years preceding employment.
- No At- Fault Accidents while employed and the five (5) years preceding employment.
- No more than two (2) moving violations while employed and five (5) years preceding the contract.
- No more than one (1) excessive speed violation during employment and the five (5) years preceding the contract.
- No criminal violations during the employment or in the five (5) years preceding employment.
- A valid Driver’s license that has not been suspended or revoked within the last three (3) years of date of hire. Any employee with a license suspended or revoked for issues other than moving violations can provide transportation if
(a) their license has been reinstated and(b) they have no further moving or nonmoving violations for at least (6) month from first date of suspension Insurance Requirements:
Staff may be required to use personal vehicle for driving youth to/from scheduled appointments. Car must be in good working order including functional heat and air conditioning. Proof of valid insurance and registration will be required at the time of hire.
