About Sisters

Sisters is a neighborhood restaurant and bar in Midtown Tucson serving handcrafted pizzas, fresh salads, sandwiches, and a small selection of pasta dishes. We believe great restaurants are built on more than great food–they're built on genuine hospitality, kindness, and community.

On any given night, we're serving neighborhood regulars, families, students, musicians, artists, and concertgoers attending events at our neighboring venue, La Rosa Arts Center. In addition to serving our restaurant guests, our kitchen prepares the pizzas sold by the slice at La Rosa during concerts and events.

Position Summary

The Kitchen Manager is the Executive Chef's second ibcommand and a key leader in the day to day operation of the kitchen. This is a working leadership position–you'll spend most of your shift on the line cooking alongside the team while helping lead service, coach fellow cooks, maintain quality standards, and keep the kitchen operating smoothly.

You'll help set the pace during service, ensure food is executed consistently, develop kitchen staff, and create a culture built on teamwork, accountability, and respect. When the Executive Chef is away, you'll confidently lead the kitchen and ensure service continues without missing a beat.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced line cook, kitchen lead, or sous chef who enjoys mentoring others, solving problems, and leading from the front.

Responsibilities

Lead by example while working on the line every shift.
Execute menu items with consistency, quality, and attention to detail.
Work all stations, including pizza, salads, sandwiches, pasta, and hot line.
Help direct the flow of service and maintain a calm, organized kitchen during busy periods.
Prepare pizzas for both Sisters Restaurant & Bar and La Rosa Arts Center.
Train, mentor, and coach line cooks and prep cooks.
Help onboard new kitchen team members and reinforce Sisters' standards.
Ensure recipes, portions, presentation, and food quality remain consistent.
Assist the Executive Chef with prep planning, ordering, inventory, and product organization.
Help control food costs by minimizing waste and following proper inventory rotation.
Maintain exceptional food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
Communicate effectively with the front-of-house team to deliver a seamless guest experience.
Help identify opportunities to improve kitchen systems, organization, and efficiency.
Step into leadership responsibilities whenever the Executive Chef is unavailable.

Qualifications

Previous experience as a lead line cook, kitchen lead, sous chef, or kitchen manager.
Strong cooking skills and the ability to confidently work every station.
Experience training or mentoring kitchen team members.
Ability to stay calm, organized, and solution-focused during busy services.
High standards for food quality, cleanliness, and consistency.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.
Reliable attendance, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
