Full Job Description

The Role: Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLP)

Role Location: Tucson, Arizona | Home Health | Clinic

Department: Therapy

Position Type: 1099 Contractor | Part-Time | minimum of 5 hours of treatment/and or evaluations conducted weekly

Incentive: A $1,000 incentive will be provided once the first 20 hours are billed

Key Responsibilities:

In-Clinic Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and patient goals.
Implement therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing functions.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, occupational/physical therapists, school professionals, and ABA staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Educate patients and families about communication strategies and therapy exercises.
Document patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
Stay current with best practices and evidence-based techniques in speech-language pathology.

Home Health Responsibilities:

Perform in-home evaluations to assess the patient’s communication and swallowing needs in their natural environment.
Design and implement tailored therapy programs that accommodate the patient’s home setting and functional routines.
Provide education and training to family members and caregivers on communication techniques and strategies to support the patient.
Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed.
Advocate for necessary modifications and equipment to enhance communication and safety at home.
Build rapport with patients and families to encourage engagement in the therapeutic process.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
Valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
Experience in a pediatric clinical and/or home health setting is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and assist patients as needed.
Capacity to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
