BenjaminBoxes is one of the fastest growing full-service box truck operations in Alabama. We sell trucks, file authority, run an in-house repair shop, and dispatch owner operators all under one roof. Our dispatch department is a core revenue driver for the business and we are looking for a Head Dispatcher who can own it completely — build the systems, manage the team, grow the network, and make the whole operation run like a machine. This is a leadership role with real upside for the right person.
About the Role
We are hiring a Head Dispatcher to lead our entire dispatch operation. You will be responsible for overseeing all active drivers and loads, managing and mentoring the dispatch team, building relationships with top brokers and shippers, and driving gross revenue across the entire fleet. You report directly to ownership and you are the person who makes sure every truck in our network is moving, earning, and compliant every single week.
This is not a coordinator role. This is a leadership position. You will be setting the standard for how dispatch runs at BenjaminBoxes, building the playbook, and holding your team accountable to it. If you have the experience, the drive, and the ability to lead — this role has serious earning potential and a clear path to a senior operations position as we expand to multiple states.
What You'll Be Doing
- Overseeing all active dispatched trucks and owner operators in the BenjaminBoxes network
- Managing, training, and mentoring junior dispatchers and the dispatch team
- Finding and booking high-value loads using DAT, Truckstop, and direct broker relationships
- Negotiating rates aggressively — your job is to maximize gross revenue per truck every single week
- Building and maintaining direct relationships with top freight brokers and shippers
- Developing lane strategies and preferred carrier relationships to reduce empty miles
- Planning backhauls on every load — no truck runs empty on your watch
- Tracking every driver from pickup to delivery — full visibility at all times
- Monitoring and enforcing DOT compliance across the entire fleet — HOS, ELD, insurance, inspections
- Overseeing same-day factoring submission for every delivered load
- Onboarding new drivers into the dispatch system — documents, insurance, direct deposit, orientation
- Handling escalated issues — breakdowns, broker disputes, detention, accidents, and violations
- Reporting weekly gross per truck and total fleet revenue directly to ownership every Monday
- Building and maintaining a dispatch operations manual — how things get done, written down
- Identifying and recommending new drivers and carriers to grow the network
- Coordinating with the authority formation team to pipeline new clients into dispatch after their MC goes active
- Representing BenjaminBoxes professionally in every broker and driver interaction
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of freight dispatch experience — box truck, dry van, or similar
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a dispatch or logistics environment strongly preferred
- Deep knowledge of DAT, Truckstop, and other major load boards
- Proven track record of negotiating high rates and maximizing gross per truck
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, hours of service, ELD compliance, and carrier authority requirements
- Experience managing multiple drivers simultaneously — 10 or more preferred
- Excellent communication skills — with drivers, brokers, shippers, and ownership
- Ability to make fast decisions under pressure and handle problems without escalating everything to management
- Experience with factoring companies — Triumph, OTR Solutions, RTS, or similar
- Understands owner operator relationships and how to keep drivers happy and productive
- Highly organized — you manage a lot of moving pieces and nothing falls through the cracks
- Experience building dispatch systems, SOPs, or playbooks is a strong plus
- Bilingual Spanish is a strong plus
- Available beyond standard business hours — freight moves around the clock and you are the person drivers call when something goes wrong

What You Can Earn
This role has a base plus performance bonus structure. A Head Dispatcher who builds a fleet of 10 to 15 trucks grossing $5,000 to $7,000 per week each is generating $50,000 to $100,000 or more in weekly gross revenue for the company. We pay our people based on what they produce. Top performers here make serious money.
What We Need From You on Day One
- Take full ownership of every active driver and load in the system
- Audit the current dispatch operation and give ownership a written assessment within the first 2 weeks
- Build a dispatch playbook — how loads get booked, how drivers get managed, how problems get handled
- Set a weekly gross revenue target for the fleet and hit it
Schedule
Monday through Friday — Full Time
Extended availability required — drivers run loads around the clock and you are the person who owns the operation
