Full Job Description

The College of Southern Idaho seeks a dynamic education generalist to teach theatre, first-year experience, and other general education courses in traditional, hybrid, and online formats. This position will report to both the Arts and Humanities and General Education and Assessment Departments. The instructor will be expected to direct a minimum of two major productions each academic year, as well as to develop and maintain strong relationships with local high school programs and to actively participate in recruiting new students. Specific teaching duties can include a combination of the following: beginning and intermediate acting, stagecraft, lighting, theatre appreciation, theatre history, Introduction to General Education (CSI’s first-year experience course), as well as other general education courses in related disciplines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach a minimum semester credit load (15-16 hours) of courses (or equivalent) in accordance with the descriptions published in the CSI catalog.
Devote a full-time work week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hours as determined by college policy, and bring to the attention of the immediate supervisor any conditions which might affect employment.
Devise and utilize outcomes assessment measures.
Participate fully in all departmental, program-level, and college-level assessment activities.
Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels.
Provide current copies of course syllabi to chairperson each semester.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
Interact with and advise students.
Participate in faculty development to improve professional effectiveness including the August Learning Lab as well as a first year on-boarding process.
Participate in instructional evaluation processes.
Attend department meetings and committee meetings as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Theatre, or a closely related field
Broad knowledge and skills across multiple areas of education
Demonstrated commitment to the importance of general education
Demonstrated success in instruction at the secondary and/or post-secondary level
Successful experience directing major theatrical productions at the secondary or post-secondary level
Demonstrated experience with set design and construction and with lighting design
Strong problem-solving skills
Positive and collaborative attitude
