Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs
Hours: 36 hrs/wk
Start Date: Sep 14, 2026
Length: 13 weeks

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring WI or compact RN licensure and 2+ years of ED experience.

Details

, a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with 69 total beds
Includes a 12-bed ED (including triage), often utilizing hallway beds
Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics, primarily adults, with varied acuity and illness types
Patient ratios of 1:5, occasionally up to 1:6 depending on acuity
12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0730), 36 hours per week
Night shift staffed with 5 RNs and 1 paramedic until 2300, dropping to 4 RNs and 1 paramedic until 0100, then 3 RNs and 1 paramedic from 0100-0700
CNA support at a 1:12 ratio, with no dedicated Charge RN; a Lead RN serves as a resource
In-house Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage available 24/7
ED RNs perform bedside phlebotomy; no dedicated phlebotomy team
Bedside and nursing station telemetry available with no dedicated tele tech
Uses Epic EMR, GE monitors, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication system
No floating required
Weekend rotation required every other weekend
No on-call requirements

Requirements

Active RN license (WI or Compact) required
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS certifications required
De-escalation training required (MOAB or CPI)
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
General ED skillset required, including chest tubes, drips, IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
Epic EMR experience preferred
Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Provide emergency care to a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics
One shift of orientation provided to learn unit flow
Any scrub color permitted
Free onsite parking available
Holiday coverage expectations vary based on unit needs
Time off requests considered based on departmental staffing needs
First-time travelers considered upon review
Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
