Full Job Description

Job Description: The Director of Advocacy provides leadership and oversight for SARC's Advocacy and Crisis Intervention Program, ensuring survivor-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive services throughout the organization's seven-county service area. This position oversees advocacy operations, crisis response services, hotline management, Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) coordination, staff supervision, volunteer engagement, grant compliance, and program quality improvement. The Director of Advocacy works collaboratively with the Executive Director and leadership team to strengthen advocacy services, maintain community partnerships, and ensure compliance with all organizational, grant, and legal requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

● Provide leadership and oversight for all advocacy and crisis intervention services, including case management, crisis intervention, medical and legal accompaniments, and the 24-hour crisis hotline.

● Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate Advocacy Program policies, procedures, forms, assessments, and service protocols.

● Monitor program quality through client feedback, case reviews, service data, and quality improvement activities.

● Ensure advocacy services remain trauma-informed, survivor-centered, culturally responsive, and consistent with state and national best practices.

● Coordinate and oversee Sexual Assault Response Teams (SART) throughout SARC's seven-county service area.

● Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with hospitals, law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, colleges, schools, and community partners.

● Recruit, hire, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate advocacy staff, volunteers, interns, and work-study students.

● Facilitate regular advocacy team meetings, supervision meetings, and case consultations.

● Coordinate advocate certification, continuing education, and ongoing staff development in accordance with Office of the Attorney General (OAG) requirements.

● Coordinate and manage 24/7 crisis hotline, accompaniment, and staff on-call schedules.

● Ensure compliance with Office of the Attorney General standards, VOCA requirements, grant contracts, organizational policies, and all applicable federal and state regulations.

● Maintain accurate client records, program documentation, databases, and grant reporting systems. Report data as needed.

● Assist with grant reporting by providing program data, outcome measures, advocacy statistics, and other department specific data.

● Assist the Executive Director with grant applications, program development, budgeting, data reports, and strategic planning initiatives.

● Represent SARC in multidisciplinary teams, community partnerships, professional organizations, and public awareness initiatives.

● Provide education and technical assistance to community partners regarding trauma-informed responses to sexual violence.

● Maintain strict confidentiality of all client, employee, volunteer, and organizational information. Other Responsibilities:

● Share responsibility for crisis hotline coverage, hospital, law enforcement, and court accompaniments as operational needs require.

● Provide direct advocacy services during periods of increased client demand or staffing shortages.

● Attend leadership, management, staff, Board of Directors, and community meetings. Assist with creating and maintaining the Board monthly meeting packet and presentation.

● Attend training, conferences, and continuing education opportunities to maintain professional competency.

● Assist with agency-wide initiatives and perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Preferred Qualifications:

● Commitment to SARC's mission to support survivors of sexual violence and work to end sexual violence in the Brazos Valley.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Public Health, Human Services, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.

● Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in victim advocacy, crisis intervention, nonprofit leadership, or related human services. ● Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.

● Knowledge of sexual assault dynamics, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, victim rights, and advocacy best practices.

● Experience with grant-funded programs, data collection, and program evaluation preferred.

● Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. ● Ability to develop collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary partners and community stakeholders.

● Proficiency with client databases, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.

● Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout SARC's service area.

● Ability to maintain professionalism, sound judgment, integrity, and confidentiality. Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt Reports To Executive Director Position Expectations The Director of Advocacy is expected to demonstrate ethical leadership, sound judgment, professionalism, and integrity while fostering a collaborative, trauma-informed culture that supports staff development, high-quality advocacy services, survivor safety, and organizational excellence.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
