Job Summary
This is a full-time, twelve-month professional position responsible for supporting the mission and philosophy of the Department of Housing & Residence Life, in support of UT Tyler by establishing and managing strong customer service through housing operations that support administrative business operations, housing occupancy and enrollment management as well as retention goals of UT Tyler. Works under limited supervision, with significant latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Some evening, weekend, and/or holiday work is required for this position. This is a security-sensitive position.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

Provides leadership to the housing administrative, business, occupancy & enrollment management operations.

Supervise, evaluate, and train the residence services coordinator and student office staff.

Serve as a member of the senior leadership team for the department of housing & residence life, providing knowledge and role modeling while engaging with department personnel through various leadership roles within the department.

Draft, prepare, analyze, and present occupancy, trends, projections, and other administrative reports, as requested.

Participates in the development of department strategy.

Coordinate and execute the annual housing room selection process for both incoming and returning students and facilitates housing assignments and placement requests.

Process housing applications, waivers, and cancellations.

Maintains student housing records and manages changes to maintain accurate billing, building access and meal plan eligibility; conducts routine housing system audits to review data integrity and accuracy of student records in conjunction with Student Business Services (SBS).

Oversee the maintenance and efficiency of the university's student housing systems. Configures, assesses, and makes continuous and timely adjustments to the university's online housing management system.

Trains and troubleshoots the support of university's student housing systems.
- Ensures compliance with university residency policy rules, regulations and requirements.

Represent the department at recruitment events, new student orientation, etc.

Give presentations as requested.

Participate in the planning and implementation of department-wide initiatives and events.

Serves as a resource for students, parents, and administrators by addressing student housing inquiries and concerns.

Liaison with campus colleagues and special housing populations (i.e., Athletics, Living-Learning Community faculty, etc.).

Assists managing departmental assessments such as external satisfaction benchmarking or internal quality of life assessments.

Supports the university's access control program including management of department functions of electronic & hard key control, safety, and security.

Plan, facilitate, and assess prospective students for residency in campus housing.

Assist the executive director with management of the housing & residence life program.

Responds and aids as needed during emergency situations.

Serve on secondary level on-call duty rotation contact for the department of housing & residence life.

Remain at location during the emergency.
-
Return immediately after an emergency to relieve those who are assigned to stay.

Work at an alternate location if assigned during or after an emergency.
-
Come to work during scheduled time off (vacation) if requested.

Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree.
-
Three (3) years’ experience of university housing and residence life in an administrative capacity or related field.

Previous supervisory experience.
-
Experience with university occupancy management software solutions and student information systems (SIS).
-

Preferred Education/Experience
-
Master’s degree in student affairs/personnel, business administration or a related field.
-
Five (5) years of full-time University housing and residence experience or equivalent.
-
Familiarity with the StarRez housing management system.
-
Experience with university occupancy management software solutions and student information systems (SIS).
-
Familiarity with residence education and student development.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
