The Assistant Athletic Director of Communication & Content is responsible for leading the communications, media relations, and public storytelling efforts for the athletic department. This position oversees the promotion and visibility of all intercollegiate athletics programs through strategic communications, digital content creation, social media, and broadcasting support. The role is critical in enhancing the institution’s brand, celebrating student-athlete achievement, and ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information for all 12 NJCAA sports programs.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in the general oversight of a highly competitive NJCAA intercollegiate athletic department with duties that may include:
Athletic Communications & Media Relations

Serve as the primary sports information and communications contact for the athletics department.

Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to promote all 12 sports programs.

Manage creative projects from concept to completion, highlighting TJC athletes, coaches, and staff

Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.

Promote athletic accomplishments, milestones, awards, and special events.
Digital Media & Social Media

Oversee athletics website content, including schedules, rosters, biographies, results, news, and promotional materials.

Implement and integrate emerging technologies and ideas on social media

Manage official athletics social media accounts with creative, timely, and engaging content.

Produce graphics, photos, videos, and other multimedia content to support athletic promotion.

Monitor brand consistency across all digital platforms.
Game Day Communications & Event Coverage

Coordinate live streaming, photography, and broadcast support for home events.

Coordinate game-day media operations for all home contests.

Prepare media credentials, programs, scripts, and press box materials.

Manage student workers, interns, and event staff assigned to communications functions.
Statistics, Records & Reporting

Maintain accurate team and individual records, archives, rosters, schedules, and historical data.

Oversee live stats operations and postgame statistical distribution.

Ensure compliance with NJCAA reporting requirements for rankings, awards, postseason, and statistical submissions.

Research and compile historical information for awards, ceremonies, and institutional needs.
Administrative Leadership

Serve as home game administrator for select home events

Representing the athletic program to the College's internal and external constituencies

Develop budgets and equipment needs related to sports information operations.

Ensure all communications efforts align with institutional policies and branding standards.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Sports Management, or a related field
Required Experience
Three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Education
Master’s Degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Sports Management, Public Relations, or a related field
Additional Preferred Job-Specific Skills

Experience in athletic administration, collegiate or professional, and or related environment

Experience in desktop publishing (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, etc.), knowledge and prior use of content management systems (CMS)- preferably like Presto Sports or Sidearm

Candidates should have a basic understanding of and be comfortable operating in the world of athletics, sports statistics, and video production.

An understanding of both NJCAA & NCAA rules and regulations.
