Under the direction of the KLTX Quality and Analytics Laboratory Manager, perform analytical testing of raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, and in-service lubricants to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements. This role supports quality control, technical investigations, customer support activities, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining laboratory equipment, procedures, and documentation.
Analytical Chemist
Responsibilities

Perform physical, chemical, tribological and rheological testing of raw materials, finished products, and internal and external lubricants using laboratory instruments such as viscometers, titrators, rheometers, spectrometers, and related analytical equipment.

Investigate product, lubricant, and manufacturing issues using scientific and root cause analysis methods while providing technical support to Development and Quality organizations regionally.

Prepare technical reports, document findings, and provide recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

Coordinate and support analytical service requests from sales, innovation teams, and external customer inquiries, providing timely data interpretation and technical recommendations related to lubricant performance and product quality.

Assist with the development, revision, and implementation of laboratory procedures, inspection plans, work instructions, and quality documentation.

Support quality management system activities, including non-conformances, corrective actions, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Manage laboratory supplies, maintain a safe and organized work environment, and perform other duties as assigned.

Lead initiatives to develop new or custom analytical methods of analysis to understand tribological aspects of lubricant performance and behavior through analytical techniques.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree or graduate degree in Analytical Chemistry preferred , or related fields (chemistry, polymer science)

3+ years working in the lubrication industry or within an analytical laboratory in the chemical manufacturing or petroleum manufacturing space

Experience in maintaining and overseeing laboratory equipment

Characterize, handle, label, manifest, or inspect hazardous waste in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Prior experience with inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy, titrations/wet techniques, infrared spectroscopy, gas chromatography-mass spec and other analytical characterization techniques and equipment is preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, 21469 and cGMP as well as general laboratory best practices
