Job Summary
This is an open-ranked position hired based on the education and relevant experience of the most qualified candidate for the role.
The department will hire a position supporting assessment for the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program. The position will be an Assessment Coordinator, Senior Assessment Coordinator or Assessment Analyst.
The position is responsible for the oversight, development, and implementation of assessment and evaluation activities within the MD program. This role supports faculty and staff through skill-building workshops and ensures best practices in learner assessment.
Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
Assessment Coordinator
Collaborate with UME faculty and staff to develop and implement quizzes, exams, and evaluations.

Serve as Chief Proctor for all UME assessments including National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) exams.

Train staff and faculty in assessment implementation and proctoring procedures.
-
Schedule and manage assessments, including proctoring logistics and resource allocation.
-
Disseminate student performance data and maintain learner and accreditation documentation.
-
Ensure compliance with assessment timelines and strategies in collaboration with UME leadership.
-
Utilize intermediate Excel skills and other data tools to facilitate interpretation and analysis of assessment data.
-
Monitor compliance with learner files and program documentation.
-
Collaborate with and provide consultation to faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure assessment plans and reports are designed, implemented, and analyzed in a manner that fosters student success and continuous improvement.

Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives, by participating in committees.
-
Participate in workshops, webinars, and professional development in areas such as NBME, LCME, etc.
-
Support Academic Affairs Program Coordinators and collaborate with Phase 1, 2, and 3 faculty and staff.
-
Provide, as needed, administrative support to supervisors, faculty, and staff for daily operations.
-
Liaise between UME administration and university stakeholders.
-

Perform other duties as assigned.
Senior Assessment Coordinator
Collaborate with UME faculty and staff to develop and implement quizzes, exams, and evaluations.

Required Education/Experience
A combination of education and experience may be accepted.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
-
Three (3) years of experience managing or coordinating experience in a medical school or similar program.
-
Master’s degree in related field preferred.
-
Previous direct assessment experience preferred.
Senior Assessment Coordinator

Master’s degree in a related field.
-
Five (5) years of experience managing or coordinating experience in a medical school or similar program.
-
At least two (2) years of direct assessment experience.
Assessment Analyst

Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business management, or related field.
-
Five (5) years of experience managing or coordinating experience in a medical school or similar program.

Three (3) years of direct assessment experience.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
