Full Job Description

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for administering and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. This role includes recruiting and onboarding employees; administering compensation, payroll coordination, benefits, leaves of absence, and employee records; and ensuring consistent application and enforcement of company policies, procedures, and employment practices. The HR Generalist serves as a resource to employees and management, supporting compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and promoting positive employee relations.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Administers and supports payroll processes, compensation changes, benefits enrollment, and leaves of absence (including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and other applicable programs).
Maintains accurate employee records and HRIS data, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
Interprets, applies, and enforces company policies and procedures consistently.
Provides guidance to management and employees on HR-related matters, employee relations issues, and workplace conduct.
Supports performance management processes, including documentation, corrective actions, and performance evaluations.
Assists with investigations, compliance audits, and corrective action processes as needed and with confidentiality.
Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies in human resources, and talent management.
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
SHRM-CP a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

Salary:

$85,000 - $90,000 per year
