The Ukiah Recovery Center (URC), part of the Ford Street Project, has provided addiction treatment services since 1974. The 2.5‑acre campus features a 1.2‑acre organic garden, residential facilities for up to 64 clients in withdrawal management and residential treatment, and a brand new 24‑bed sober living environment. The property also includes a fully equipped 400+ square‑foot commercial kitchen, beautifully maintained landscapes, and an outdoor stone oven.
URC offers a comprehensive range of services, including residential substance use disorder treatment, withdrawal management, horticultural therapy, weekly client excursions, outpatient programming, and ongoing alumni events. Beyond the recovery program, the Ford Street Project also operates the community food bank and provides both permanent and emergency housing for families experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.
The SUDT Program Director of URC is supported by a highly skilled team of counselors and client service representatives. As a member of the agency’s Leadership Team, the Director participates in weekly leadership meetings, Core Team meetings, Counselor meetings, and the monthly Board of Directors meeting. This role provides administrative oversight of the recovery program and serves as the primary point of communication with agency stakeholders.

Position Summary
This is an independent leadership position responsible for the oversight, quality assurance, and delivery of Substance Use Disorder Treatment (SUDT) services across all program areas. The role operates with a high level of autonomy while maintaining accountability to the Executive Director. The position ensures that all services—including Residential Treatment, Withdrawal Management, Outpatient Programs, and Sober Living—are delivered in alignment with state and federal regulations, evidence-based practices, and organizational standards.
Management Oversight
- Provide strategic leadership and direct oversight of all SUDT program operations, including Residential Treatment, Withdrawal Management, Outpatient Services, and Sober Living Environments
- Directly supervise the Ford Street Project Sites Director and other key personnel
- Oversee and support multidisciplinary staff, ensuring effective service delivery and team performance
- Participate in hiring, performance management, and termination of treatment staff in collaboration with Human Resources
- Develop staff through clinical supervision, performance evaluations, and professional development planning
- Supervise and mentor college interns and support workforce development initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all treatment services meet State of California licensing, certification, and Drug Medi-Cal (DMC & DMC-ODS) requirements
- Provide oversight and approval of all program policies, procedures, and process documents
- Maintain compliance with all contractual and regulatory standards
- Monitor and improve treatment modalities to ensure alignment with current SUDT best practices, CLAS standards, and ethical guidelines
- Approve program schedules, curriculum, and service delivery models
- Oversee Quality Assurance activities, including chart reviews, audits, and performance improvement initiatives
- Manage program statistical data and reporting for Board of Directors (BOD), administrative leadership, and funders
- Present program performance through dashboard reporting at Leadership, BOD, and other meetings
- Review monthly financial reports and provide recommendations to the Executive Director regarding budget, staffing, and operational decisions
- Represent the agency professionally with community partners, funding sources, providers, and regulatory agencies
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging trends, treatment models, and compliance requirements in SUDT
Qualifications
- California State certification by a California recognized drug and alcohol certifying authority
- Minimum of 5 hours of Continuing Education (CEs) in addiction treatment completed annually
- Eligibility for credentialing with Partnership Health Plan
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing a SUD Residential Treatment Program (required)
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in a recovery treatment setting (preferred)
- Experience with Social Model treatment, DMC/DMC-ODS systems, and co-occurring disorders (dual diagnosis)
- License Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in Quality Assurance, licensing compliance, chart review, and contract management
- Strong knowledge of data management systems, billing, and reporting tools used in SUDT programs
- Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team
- Demonstrated ability to maintain clear and appropriate professional boundaries
