Full Job Description

Lake of Isles Line Cook Position Summary

Lake of Isles is seeking a dedicated, skilled, and dependable Line Cook to join the culinary team at Matches Tavern. The Line Cook is responsible for supporting the daily kitchen operations, ensuring food quality and safety, and delivering consistent, high-standard dishes to members and guests. This role requires teamwork, initiative, and attention to detail — all while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

The Line Cook will work closely with the Chef and other team members in executing meals efficiently, properly, and beautifully, while also helping lead kitchen functions during off-hours or in the absence of a supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Execution

Operate grill, fry, and prep stations efficiently and safely in accordance with ServSafe standards.
Expedite food in coordination with kitchen staff to ensure timely, simultaneous, and consistent service.
Execute menu specials and ensure proper presentation and plating of all dishes.
Manage food expo and oversee flow of orders and service during peak times.

Kitchen Operations

Use and maintain commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, meat slicers, steam kettles, and combination ovens.
Assist in food prep during off-peak hours under the direction of the Chef on duty.
Maintain accurate food temperature logs and ensure all dishes meet quality and safety standards.

Inventory, Storage & Sanitation

Label, date, and rotate food products according to health code and kitchen policy.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas, equipment, and storage spaces.
Follow all food safety and applicable sanitation procedures and regulations.

Team Support & Leadership

Assist with training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff.
Assume a leadership role in the absence of the Chef and ensure normal kitchen operations continue smoothly.
Support a positive and collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

Food Safety and Sanitation Certification required.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lift 40 lbs frequently and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
Must be able to stand, bend, and work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods.
Prior experience in high-volume food service preferred.

Schedule

Must be available for a full-time schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
