Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) provides crisis intervention and de-escalation services to clients and families. The Sr. CIS will review cases with supervisor, formulate diagnosis, assess appropriate treatment, and case management interventions and coordinate care. The Sr. CIS will complete agency and DHS required paperwork in a timely fashion as well as maintaining updated records on all clients assigned. Sr. CIS will be a role-model for CISs and assist in guiding them in their responsibilities.

Title: Sr. Crisis Intervention Specialist,

Location: Neptune NJ

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

A Human Service oriented Master's Degree plus 4 years prior experience providing treatment services to children or adolescents.
A valid NJ Driver's License with a clean driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A Human Service oriented Master's Degree accompanied by minimum NJ licensure LSW or LAC with prior experience providing case management services to children or adolescents.
Knowledge and experience working with DDD populations and Substance Use Disorders preferred.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Deliver Crisis Response services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and provide specific services and interventions for up to 72 hours. The CIS will be required to work a combination of day and evening shift hours and in some instances weekends. Due to the unpredictable timing of crisis response requests the CIS may be expected to stay past the end of their shift to complete an already initiated crisis response.

Complete an initial assessment of the client's needs based on program requirements and develop an Individual Crisis Plan.

Complete Assessments as required by the regulatory agency which governs their program. This assessment will be thorough and competently done.

Re-evaluate the client throughout treatment to identify any new needs or problem areas. The CIS will make at least weekly calls to the client, which are documented in a timely manner.

Assist with Case Management and intra and inter-agency coordination of treatment services for assigned clients. The CIS will communicate appropriate and relevant clinical information. The CIS will make every effort possible to engage the client's current school personnel to better coordinate care and services.

Provide clinical input as needed to external providers (e.g., EAP's case managers and referral sources).

Provide accurate and timely documentation of treatment provided to assigned client and their families to assure a quality record.

Update the client's Clinical Record in a timely and competent fashion.

Responsible for completing required paperwork in the DHS electronic record in the CYBER software system and will maintain updated electronic record of all care provided to client.

Make exhaustive efforts to gather needed information to complete online 3560/PE applications, as well as take responsibility for sending supportive documentation to county and state agencies to ensure families acquire necessary insurance coverage.

Acknowledge that the Mobile Response Crisis Program is community-based and will be required to meet clients in various community settings including but limited to homes, schools, hospitals, recreational facilities, public parks, and businesses.In some cases, the CIS may come into contact with nuisances such as cockroaches, bed bugs, cigarette smoke or unsanitary environments.

Will assist supervisors in training new staff, facilitate meetings for scheduling purposes, assist with crisis line scheduling and attend community meetings as a MRSS liaison.

Additional Responsibilities:

Possess a valid driver's license and a point-free driving abstract. Drive agency vehicles and follow agency policies related to vehicle use.

Follow Agency policies regarding the confidentiality and security of clinical records.

Fulfill diverse responsibilities required and/or assigned by supervisor.

Work cooperatively with other staff and supervisors.

Seek and uses supervision in a professional fashion.

Serve on professional committees as required by the administration and in keeping with professional standards.

Attending most scheduled staff meetings.

Provide additional related services assigned by supervisor.

Successfully engage and relate effectively with clients, family, community representatives, outside agencies, and other referral sources.

Abide by Agency policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the

employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stretching. Good eye-hand

coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment is required. Employees must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate information pertaining to this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.
